They did not give up under pressure!! sanath and Sanga has to simply go for the Target under D/L cos they knew it is going to rain..That is the reason they started hitting..
The bad light was first offered when i think there was like 8 overs to go and may be 90 runs to get..it was impossible to get 10 to 11 runs an over in the last 8 overs..We decided to play on cos we did not realize the match can be continued the next day..!! i think that was the point we missed..

The issue here is the way Gilly boasted showing his gloves when he got his 100..It is Cheating!!U can't bowl if you have a plater on your fingers cos this is in cricket giving the bowler extra advantage. it is the same in batting!!

The cricket authorities should look into this issue..and someone should initiate it

Agreed; and do you think Sanath would have got out for that loose ball from Clarke. The situation was such that, he had to come out yards out of the crease for that ball.

If not that ball would have sailed onto the Stands or may have landed in the Car Park. Bad Luck!

Didn't you notice when Clarke bowled the ball was keeping low and skidding becouse of the rain. Sanath should have tried to play over the bowler instead of playing across Kumar became over confidant and lossed his wicket. If sanath & sanga was at the wicket D/L score would have been much less as less wickets fallen.

There a few issues that should have given the advantage to the Aussies

1) Gilly using the Baseball in his gloves to enhance his grip which gave him an advantage. A bowler is not allowed to bowl if he has a plaster on his fingers..(U would have seen that in our semis Vs NZ when Scott Styris was bowling..he has to remove them) That is cos it gives a bowler an advantage. You could have seen when Gilly got to his 100 he made sure to show his Gloves to indicate it did help him..so there was a definite advantage..If the umpires have known i am sure they would have informed the Match Referee.

2) When we batted we were going OK..I am not sure whether we could have made those runs but it might have been close but then the rain came down and the D/L so we were forced to change gears and that resulted in we loosing wickets

3) i do not think we knew if we have taken the light offered when there was 8 overs to go the match would have gone into a second day..if we had known i am sure we could have taken the Bad light..I think at that stage we had like 90 runs to get in 8 overs..(11 runs and over) it is not impossible to get 10 runs an over in the last 10 overs!!

sanath has to play that shot cos Sanga got out and he knew it is going to rain and when you apply the D/L rule we were well short so sanath has to go for it

Sanga was never over confident..he was batting beautifully and the rain started to come down....u can see the picture in which sanath and sanga are standing and there is heavy rain falling..There is nothing much they could have done but to go for it!it is one of those things..If there was a decent 50 over match it would have been difference!

Good Analysis.

I don't know whether you guys remember in the beginning of the World Cup, i mentioned that Australia were playing Cricket like Baseball.

If Gillie has cheated, it demands an inquiry for sure.

Yes, the D/L made Sanath and Sanga hurry, if not it would have been maybe a different story.

I don't think Ponting and Mahela would have disagreed if the match had to take place on the reserve day instead of going in for lesser over affair. A 50 over a side match would have been great irrelevant of the result.

definetely, he has cheated, No cricketer in the world will resort to that kind of trick. AUssies were scared of us and they wanted to maintain their image at any cost.

This is pure un-sportmanship

None of the SL Cricket Team claimed that the Aussies Cheated, but then They are True Sportsmen, and are Not given to 'Sour Grapes'.

There ya go lanka! easy peasy! put a squash ball into the mix and you'll be hitting sixes in no time. but why stick to one? i say take as many balls and insert them into any number of body cavities as per needed. we'll teach those dastardly aussies yet..

I believe the inclusion of 'Dilhara Fernando' was the real reason for the loss of Sri Lanka.

He is out of the rhythm and the bowling was awkward. Gilcrist confidence was boosted when he started hammering him for 'FOURS AND SIXES' -

Any player in such form will become disdainful even to the best of the bowlers.

I do not know why? They included Dilhara - Maharoof is a all-rounder (His fielding is only second to Dilshan). If he cannot bowl well he could compliment that failure with the bat.

Anyone in this forum share my view.

'Included Dilhara to drop the World Cup'.
