Srimal11,#
Read this to find what is under the yellow robes.

It is no accident that sections of the Buddhist hierarchy are bitterly opposed to any peace deal. Their power and privileges were greatly enhanced by the constitutional provision turning Buddhism into a state religion. The Department of Buddhist Affairs has a substantial budget?185 million rupees in 2004?much of which finds its way into the hands of the monasteries. Any dilution of these anti-democratic measures would impact on the position of the Buddhist clergy. Edited By - nirupam - 30 Apr 2007 20:20:00 GMT |

Nirupam,
JHU says that the country belongs to Sinhala-Buddhists and others have no place in it.
What can I say, Nirupam, when VP is sitting over 1/3rd of the island while you can enter any Buddhist temple with no questions asked.
JHU is less than 2%, but may grow if VP continues with his idiocies.
However, JHU is sane enough to print all their docs in 3 languages !
Ah, you are hooked to WSWS !

| I was thinking Mig's & Kifrs were shot down by 'Upsurgence People's Force' or 'Unidentified persons'. This is a govt work to discredit LTTE for 'Upsurgence People's Force' or Unidentified persons' attacks. |

Srimal111,
Some JHU members were the instigaters of 1983 riots
It is very unfortunate that these saffron robed people are deceiving the innocent and the unsuspecting Sinhala Buddhists in Sri Lanka with help of Buddhist business tycoons
Commented by Karu J, Most respected Sinhala Buddhist politician
As you are already aware this situation has created a huge rift among the Buddhist monks and perhaps done more damage to the Buddhasasana than any other elements cited by the Urumaya. This would leave a permanent dark patch on the Buddha Sasana with a stench that would surpass the actions of Buddhist monks who were photographed with clubs rampaging
during the 83 riots. |

Nirupam,
It is more than sad to see that innocent Tamils have been brain-washed by VP and his fascist gang, making them to die for nothing! |

ViceSquad,
What can I say, Nirupam, when VP is sitting over 1/3rd of the island
This is the mosdt ridiculaus claim that any human can make.
There are 9 provinces and N + E are predominantly populated by Tamil speaking Muslims and Tamils.
2/9 = 22% of the land comes under those two provinces. How can any one claim 1/3= 33%? This sterio typed claim was made by many Sinhalese in this forum.
Now 'VP is sitting' as you put it in less than 1/2 of this 22%. How can you make it 33%?
VP wants separation ONLy because none of the agreements elected leaders of Tamils signed with SL leaders were honoured. That means SL leaders were not even prepared to implement the 'District Councils' (1965) Dudley agreed to grant. Even the pacifist leaders were disillusioned and as a last resort sought the mandate of both Muslims and Tamils in 1977 and got 95% of the votes in support.
If no reasonable solution is not acceptable to elitists in SL then only option left is to go separate. What else is left. This is not only in Sri Lanka but also happened in East Pakistan , East Tomor, Eritria, Somaliland etc. If co-existance is denied separation becomes natural.
