Though these fighter jets are manufactured with safety factor of 5, they are vulnerable to mechanical failures given their complexity of mechanical, electrical and electronic features. My guess is that this is a mechanical failure.

On the other hand, it is possible for these pilots to underestimate LTTE targets and fly-by attracting short range fire. Anyway this is a senseless war, not worth talking about it.

Did you also (managed to) ask HE VP for his views on getting a solution? When is the due date of the Peelam baby... or it's still in LIQUID form?

The ball is in the MR's court or in the Southern court for last 50 years. There is no way minorities are going to accept Sinhala Only or continued ethnic cleansing bby state sponsored colonisation schemes.

No point in distorting it because anybody can buy land or property anywhere as it is now. If you have money and tell me which part of the North (or East) you want to buy I can personally make it happen.

It is the govt that table proposals for discussion. The whole world knows at one time in 1965 elected Tamil leaders were prepared to settle for District Councils but wrecked by extremists.

Now we want a system that functions itself without the interferance of any S.leader or Buddhist monk.

Robins,

Its worth a lot of lollies for Rajapakses!

'lollies'? I guess you meant 'collies'. Anyway, it is not worth for anybody. Both Tamils and Sinhalese try to finish each other and claim victory like two brainless gladiators who try to please their spectators. Our clowns fight each other, world sell arms, then advice about human rights, then then laugh watching the show.

Another damp squib from tamilnet, and another fabricated lie dies a natural death!!..

Media victories, military victories and realities on Tamilnet

the story starts today 11:22 GMT:

''..Sri Lanka Air Force's (SLAF's) Israeli-built fast attack Kfir aircraft which took off from Katunayake Air Force base Monday on a bombing raid south of Ira'naimadu between around 3:00 p.m. spewed large cloud of smoke as the jet suspended the bombing raid and struggled to maintain height, traders in Kilinochchi who saw the troubled aircraft said. Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports from Colombo said a Kfir has failed to return to Katunayake base.''

then at 14:38 GMT, the story changes to the following:

''..The SLAF bomber, following a loud explosion, went down into the sea, Mr. Ilanthirayan said..''

''..'Our auto activated air-defence-system attacked the Sri Lanka Air Force MIG-27 bomber when it approached Ira'anaimadu airfield on a bombing mission,' Ilanthirayan said claiming responsibility for the attack..''

Then at 18:00 GMT the story dies with the following:

''..The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said they attacked the Israeli-built Kfir jet on Monday as it flew over the rebel-held Kilinochchi district, but that the aircraft was not shot down..''

http://www.dnaindia.com/report.asp?NewsID=1093932

Observe the other fabricated stories from tamilnet that have passed away with the same fate..

''..airmen coming off duty told reporters in Colombo that several SLAF jet bombers were put out of action by fierce fires which broke out in the hangars struck by the LTTE aircraft. Up to 40% of the SLAF's strike capability has been knocked out, they said.''

http://www.tamilnet.com/art.html?catid=13&artid=21681

we know the validity of this statement :) .. observe:

''..The bombs meant for the Kfir and MiG-27 squadrons fell on the adjoining Aeronautical Engineering Wing (AEW). It has now come to light that an Mi-17 helicopter, loaned from India and used for VIP transport, was badly damaged..''

Why does SLFP stil believes power devolution at district level can end the misery in Sri Lanka ?

Even a power sharing system beyond the federal concept can function effectively if it is presented to the moderate tamils, if they are satisfied i am sure they would deny the leadership of LTTE at a later stage.

To cool the temp look at the unfortunate Sri Lankan cricket team which missed the World Cup by a whisker.
[ WoWorld Cup officials admit they didn't know the rules
BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (AP) - World Cup cricket officials admitted a series of blunders that saw the final of the prestigious tournament end in farcical scenes.'It's human error. I'm very embarrassed ... it's a bit of a crisis scenario,' match referee Jeff Crowe said after Australia beat Sri Lanka by 53 runs at Kensington Oval.Officials mistakenly told players that the match, almost complete, might have to be completed on Sunday with only three overs to be bowled as teams played in gathering gloom
