Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva yesterday threatened to stop distribution of Divaina/Island newspapers at Kelaniya over recent reports on an extortion racket run by a gang that allegedly backed by a deputy minister. He demanded that ?allegations against him? be substantiated, though the newspaper reports had not mentioned the name of the politician concerned |

From Special forces
karuna faction has begun small troop assaults in the vanni from the last 2 months...
so far close to 12 claymore attacks have taken place in vanni heartland and in addition to special forces, the ranger units and special infantry groups trained by the sarath fonseka fomula the karuna faction too has trained its own long range division with the the help of ' experts from other sections' ...
life i hear is pretty tought for the ltte and before the vanni invation there will be fire works of a nother kind it seems...!
with the eastrn fighters trained in suicide warfare ,if they are to function as ranger units who have no intention of coming back, its only left for imgination of what life is going to be for the vanni cowerds...!
