The trouble with southerners is that they are too greedy, violent and untrustworthy. Only those who emigrated to other parts of SL and other countries as no better than beggers will change and adopt. But in the south, they are bloody beggers, worse than south indians. |

Mahinder needs more than the SLDF to protact him now.
The people are getting wise to his tricks.
Everything will be revealed pretty soon.
MR & Brothers will have very few friends left.
MR & Family will be leaving SL soon. Not all at once but one by one. Just look out for it.
If they are wise they will monitor funds being transfered from SL to offshore banks.

| Oh well, at least a coup isn't on the cards since the President clearly has the tri-forces' support. But I personally think that soldiers should not get involved in politics. Democracy means 'rule of the people', and that's what it should be. |

Before Premadasa the Army in Kokkavil Camp near Kilinochi started to connive and collaborated with Tamil militants against IPKF. That time IPKF stated to clear Sinhalese from Trincomale with The help of EPRLF, TELO and PLOT. Premadasas decision to supply arms is supported by the most influential Kopekaduva school in the army.

Very true .. as long as we have a strong Govt at the centre, we can face the challenge 'mounted' by VP, and cause a 'steady attrition' of his forces (forcing him to 'give-up' the impossible dream of Eelam).
However, the situation can change if the 'opposition' in the South can be 'signed up' to undermine Presidential authority, and cause political chaos in the South. If the Military 'steps in' at that stage .. to bring about 'sanity to the situation', and restore control, they'd be doing their duty.
If a military 'take-over' were to take place .. it will be only because RW and his cohorts 'paved the way' for such event to occur.
(There is the other possibility also .. where the opposition makes inroads into the military .. 'capture' and influence senior personnel - as happened during Mm Bandaranaike's time - and 'engineer' their own coup).
