Robins,
Fine, you dont like JHU in politics, moks in politics, and POpe in politics!! We are in agreement there!!
Again damn right. And I think it is a mistake to let monks to take participation in elections.
Plus you are representing a country and a community hell bent on following budhism in politics like the Islamic ruling countries following Islamic laws!!
If I am allowed to say then, I represent Sri Lanka that's all.
You are overreacting when you try to put Sri Lanka in radical Islam country jacket, you really are. There are very moderate and humane Buddhists monks around and believe me they are the majority. Edited By - Saint - 8 Apr 2007 20:51:22 GMT |

Jesus would have said. Yes there are few issues. But it had been under the same management for over 2000 years. Edited By - radaw - 8 Apr 2007 18:44:21 GMT |

A honest leader is only lacking in Srilankan politics...Even if 100 presidents come - no one will be honest and not corrupt...

| Pope must keep out of politics in SL,knows nothing about the ground situation,as a Christian I would advice his highness not to dabble in politics and no clergy or monk is given a mandate to speak and his sermon will be in the wilderness where it belong, OK? |

Special Units for human rights education in schools
Saturday, 07 April 2007
The Government with the vision of expanding the knowledge and awareness of human rights among the school students has decided to establish Human Rights Units at Schools Island wide.
Currently two of such units are successfully operating in Anuradhapura district under the supervision of National Human Rights Commission (NHCR). Subsequent to these new units will be located in Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Hambantota and Matara districts shortly.
Through the setting up of such units in schools the Human Rights Commission hopes to protect and safeguard the fundamental rights of the students, their families and their neighbours and also to create a disciplined society.
The school human rights units will help the Commission collect information on child violation cases and the present human rights situation in rural area.
