There were romours that Soosai had trouble with the leadership, spread by the pariah state cowards, even in the last decade.
But the Operation Unceasing Waves III,with Sea Tigers taking a leading role contributed immensely for the success of the operation, which liberated vast teritory of Vanni from the occupying cowards, put an end to that speculation.
Then when Soosai went to Singapore to get treatment for his long standing shoulder problem, they spread the same rumours.
This rumour mongering is the last hope and weapon of the pariah state's cowards.

To Amnesty's deputy Asia Pacific director, Mr.Tim Parritt through The Director General of Amnesty International

We expects international human rights organizations to respect the spirit of cricket and not to intrude the game with low level politicised remarks.

Further we would like to ask Amnesty International whether it plans to take up the issue of human rights violations by the U.S. government in Iraq or in Guantanamo Bay at the Super Bowl match or the National Basketball League championship of theirs,

Please do not mix politics with games, because cricket is played between teams, and not with governments.

The politicization of any sports event is deplorable and contrary to United Nations General Assembly resolution 59/10 of 8 December 2004, entitled 'Sport as a means to promote education, health, development and peace', and not for any other hidden agendas.

Such a campaign by AI would damage its credibility in the eyes of the sports-loving public and only cause further damage, already exists, to its reputation in Sri Lanka.

So to read some of the posts and news items here, it seems cricket fans a re a cold hearted bunch who do not care for human rights? As there is no POLITICS in the AI campaign, only the call for HUMAN RIGHTS to be respected?

Why is it only the government that is howling so loudly over a NON POLITICAL EVENT? What are they so scared of?

There is no question of Human violations in SL.
What AI doing is punishing the innocent . The palyers or the SL supporters
has nothing to do with the violations. They should go after the real Violaters.
Not the Players or Fans.

Maitreya, how are they punishing the innocent bro?

All it is, is an awareness campaign, and where better to make the plight of hundreds of thousands known other than at a venue where many fellow country men gather?

The AI campaign says nothing about the Sri Lankan cricket team? All it asks is that the GoSL and the LTTE take human rights seriously and that independent observers be allowed to verify that BOTH parties are doing so.

it seems only the GoSL has taken this personally, guilty conscience it seems.

Just do it, Mahinda. The idea here is to prevent another traitor becoming Premier or President.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa will announce the new constitutional draft proposals of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) on May 1. Announcing this, SLFP General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena said that the proposals would include the establishment of a government system under a prime minister and offer of maximum decetralisation under a single country.

He said that the devolution would be proposed in accordance with the Mahinda Chinthanaya. Answering a question on whether the proposal would be to abolish the executive presidency system, Mr Sirisena answered in affirmative.

SLFP General Secretary however clarified that the proposals will have to be finalized and a consensus has to be reached after discussions.

The Government is always committed to a lasting political solution. The President has briefed South Asian leaders about the Government?s about this.

The SLFP proposals will be submitted to the APRC. The proposals and observations received from different political parties will be evaluated in the process of finding the most suitable Sri Lankan modal.

Article: Balls at World Cup expose biased umpires

few high lights from the article.
reveals the growing relationship between AI bigwigs and the LTTE.
Authoritative sources said that this was a part of a wider conspiracy against the Sri Lankan government
The sources accused the London-headquartered human rights watchdog of strengthening LTTE efforts to internationally embarrass Sri Lanka.
The sources said that the AI action was a continuation of an effort to isolate Sri Lanka and strengthen the LTTE's case against the State.

are they (sinhalese ) saying there is no human rights abuse in that island??
