This is what i found out..How could Mrs Rajapakse be a burgher?
First Lady of Sri Lanka
Dr. Swineetha de LIVERA
PROFILE: The First Lady was a close associate and friend of mine since the late seventies and I have known her intimately for several years. I wish to write a few words about her.
HAPPY MODEL FAMILY: President Mahinda Rajapakse, Madam Shiranthi Rajapakse and their three sons - Namal, Yoshitha and Rohitha.
She is the gift of the Lord Almighty received by her dear parents - late Commander E. P. Wickramasinghe and Mrs. Violet Wickramasinghe. Nisantha Wickramasinghe and Srimal Wickramasinghe are her brothers.
She is blessed with an overwhelming grace of kindness, friendliness and is of a charitable nature. She is also a graceful person and devoted wife and a duty bound mother. All this goes to describe the sparkling gem detected in 1983 by Mahinda Rajapakse in Colombo. Edited By - Berty - 6 Apr 2007 14:25:41 GMT |

I'm just wondering. How's the cricket like thosedays.
Cricket was the same those days but unfortunetly in Jaffna where i played my school cricket was played on Matting and most of the Colombo schools played on Turf..so it was tuff for Tamil boys to come and play cricket on turf in colombo.
during my days at college we played Wesley on an annual basis and before the we used to play Royal college too! when we played in 1972 the under 16 tournament we went to the quater finals and lost to Prince of wales. I think Mohan De silva was playing for PoW.
I also played cricket in Bahrain and in Hong kong..I gave up 2 years ago but plays social cricket for the SL social cricket club and the best thing is we all play together as sri lankans..!! Edited By - Berty - 6 Apr 2007 14:32:43 GMT |

nteresting stuff. Have you got a chance to play with Sathasivam.I heard he's very talented cricketer.
Oh!! Satha was much older than me..I think early 60's!!
He played for tamil union and best known for his late cuts! then You had Neil Chanmugam, then Micheal Tissera.
when i was in college we had Anura Tennakone coaching us for a week in Jaffna!he was a stylish batsman!!
when i was in colombo i lived down Park road and Siddath is a very good friend of my brother in UK. i love watching Duleep mendis, sunil wettimuny, Roy Dias, Anura Ranasinghe.

This is the latest News..interesting..
President feels a tremor caused by unbalanced power
(LeN-2007 April 06, 7.00 pm) It is being reported from the Temple trees that the government is experiencing a few tremors as the number of very close allies of the president has reduced to 19 and 18 parliamentarians including several ministers have pledged to support Mangala Samaraweera at an emergency.
Before president Rajapakse flew to India for the SAARC summit he has called his close allies to the temple trees and briefed them regarding the functions of the government, the details scheduled to be discussed at the summit and few other important political moves. The president had called only four ministers for the particular discussion. They are Dalas Alahaperuma, Maithripala Sirisena, Nimal Siripala de Silva and Jeyaraj Fernandopulle. the head of state has also called up 15 others who are non cabinet deputy ministers, which gives an indication that the number of close allies of the president has dropped to 19.
During the discussion it had been mentioned that 18 parliamentarians are supporting Mangala Samaraweera and that one particular person should work to free them from Mangala. Though the number of close allies to Mangala has been put to18, it is reported to us that the figure stands at 31.
Meanwhile when Sripathi Suriarachchi questioned minister of transport Dalas Alahaperuma regarding the statement he made in parliament to protect the president Alahaperuma had said that since ministers are reluctant to speak for the president he decided to make the initiative on a request made by president.
