Japanese maglev - fastest train on the planet (but not on rails)
Friday, 6 April 2007 - 1:12 AM SL Time

So the TGV was impressive, but this beauty is still the fastest having reached 581Kph (361 Mph).

However in the video it is doing `only` about 500 Kph.

Test runs of TGV and Shinkansen were conducted in the special laid tracks and running conditions.

In a commercial run, TGV has small edge over Japan's counter-part, since first one travels at 320km/h and second one is at 300km/h.

High speed traveling is limited by safety concerns, in fact you can run these trains at an ideal condition; but question surfaces how would you do it in a normal colder-snowy condition.

Sri actually apart from safety they are more worried with cost, going over 320kph is not as cost effective.
