| | News Image 13627 - Sri Lanka clinch two-run thriller Thursday, 5 April 2007 - 4:48 AM SL Time - Some pictures are worth a million words | | | Ravi Bopara came within one shot of being an England hero, but Dilhara Fernando held his nerve and bowled him off the final ball of pulsating match in Antigua. When Bopara was joined by Paul Nixon, England were in a hopeless position of needed 103 off 99 balls but the pair of young and old added 87 to give England hope. Nixon fell to Malinga, but still Bopara hit out and 12 were needed off the last over. Bopara played an audacious flick over short fine-leg, but lost the strike for one vital ball and was dismissed trying to swing the final ball to the boundary.

| Two of the best matches (close matches) and lanka involved in both. Its definitely good for cricket but if its this close it can swing either way! |

The world cup management should have followed what they did at the SA vs SL match and nominated Dilhara also to share the man of the match award without nominating only Bopara.
It is sad, Dihara is another unsung hero. |

Good job Lanka..!
Murali is great, but I wonder what the big impact that he can offer, when few points are crucial in final 2 or 3 overs and opponent is playing with wickets in hand. |

Someone please take a stump and shove it up Ranjit Fernando's u-know-where... He's nothing but a bootlicker sucking up to the suddas. Just a couple of examples from this match:
1) Didn't back SL to win. Said he'd rather have a tie.
2) Soon after Dilhara took the second wicket, this idiot went on and on calling Ravi a hero and Nixon and whatever, totally neglecting to mention the tight bowling done by Dilhara & Lasith at the death, under a lot of pressure. It was I think Nasser who turned the attention back to them.
It's a joke that he's the only SL'n commentator in the WC panel. |
