If we want an anchorman as an opener, best option is Mavan Attapattu. It is not anchorman but out of form.
Marvan is a good player to be sidelined in this World Cup. It does not mean than an opener should be an anchorman, it depends on the given situation in the context of the game. So yesterday Tharanga had to fulifil that role and not to forget he did a similar part against India as well.
By the way on both occassions Sri Lanka WON. |

| I have to say that Ranjit Fernando's commentary is terrible. At some points i turned the volume down when he was on just so i didn't have to hear it. The worse bit was when Fernando came on and he said oh he 'lacks confidence and will probably no ball.' What kind of comment was that - happily dilhara proved most SL fans including me wrong by bowling a great couple of overs under great pressure. The only downside is Ranjit's commentating. |

Our batting is hopeless.
My full credit go to Bopara and Nixon who showed how to change the game. Hope Sri Lanka & Indian could learn a lot from them.
Ranjith Fernando is half Sri Lankan, other half is an A.s hole. |

| I think we need Tony Gregg again. remember, 1996 world cup how he appriciate our players. Ranjith is doing nothing. |

Guys hold on, Ranjith has to be an impartial comment'r and he got recognize the talent of the players of the both party. In one-way or other Bopara made the game a last minute thriller (Nixon too).
Anyway for sure, the better team won the game and remember it was a anybody's game in last couple of overs. |

Guys,
You know what? I think Tharanga should be allowed to continue. He is a player with lot of talent. And he has proven that. True, he took his time against the Eng. game. But sometimes that is necessary. We wouldn't have scored even 230+ without his contribution. As PIYAL correctly said One should remember how Gurusinghe played during 96 world-cup.
I know what I'm going to get after saying this. But I think Murali should be replaced by Malinga Bandara for Aus and New Zealand games. for 2 reasons:
1) Murali is struggling with some sort of Injury. This will give him ample time to recover. Plus he can play against Ireland later on to get some practice and be ready for the semi-final.
2) Aussie and NZ are doing well against Murali. It will be a total surprise for them, if we include Malinga Bandara in the team. I also think he will do better than Murali. Edited By - radaw - 5 Apr 2007 23:24:47 GMT |

Eventhough Sri Lanka lost to South Africa, They, all along showed they are worthy of the cup.
But, it won't come easy and Sri Lanka need to so that they are desperate for the cup and need to fight.
They fought like in games both with South Africa and with England. |
