Everyone knows their propaganda stunt was a failure.

Now faced with embarrassing situation that their lie was exposed, they choose to go silent. LOL

Siva,

I have a bit of a chest congestion. SO am forced to drink egg coffee. Do you folk drink this?

Thats new to me bud. I hope it gets better for you.

Yeah i'm on contract for few months which can be extended upon certain conditions i.e. funding from the government.

West Indies won't be a huge issue if we bowl well as expected while some decent runs on the board. Anything over 250+ is good as winning. Key is the toss as you say.

Have a good day in Texas.

The strange irony of last Monday's Tiger guerrilla air raid on the SLAF base in Katunayake is the fact that no country has pointedly condemned the LTTE. India was not the only country to avoid any critical reference to the LTTE over the air raid. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's spokesman declared 'He deeply regrets the air raids, military confrontations on the ground, and suicide bombings have become a daily occurrence, prompting massive displacement and suffering for civilians.' China, still Sri Lanka's biggest supplier of military hardware, issued a brief statement condemning 'terrorism.' The silence in other world capitals was deafening and gave the Government a clear message that it was losing international confidence.

But most damning for Colombo was perhaps the lukewarm response it received from the diplomatic community in the city and from friendly countries. Their silence to what was a virtual announcement by the LTTE that theirs was the only terrorist group in the entire world with their own air strike capability, was deafening.
Last weeks incident at Katunayake was certainly no Nine-Eleven. But in principle, it had equal if not greater significance. The Al-Qaeda terrorists had to commandeer commercial aircraft for the attacks they launched in America. And here was an even more ruthless terrorist group brazenly demonstrating that it had its own aircraft capable of launching attacks at the behest of the whims and fancies of Velupillai Prabhakaran.
And yet, none of the major international players dared speak up to voice condemnation of the event. Even United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon could only summon barely enough courage to state what he has been saying yet again-that both parties to the conflict should attempt reconciliation through negotiation!
Big Brother India was icily silent, dwelling instead on the technicalities of the radar system at Katunayake and peace broker Norway said nothing at all. If those in the Foreign Office in Colombo have been surprised at this tepid response from its international brethren, it hasn?t so far made its displeasure known.

Monday's LTTE demonstration of their air strike capability, even if it sounds primitive to some, means the defence establishment will have to evolve counter measures to secure military installations, naval assets at sea and on land, troop transport ships, VIP residences and a host of others who are now targets. To a nation that is reeling under an economic crisis, such measures would be a costly burden.

Already, foreign suppliers are girding themselves to offer air defence mechanisms and a host of other related hardware to the Government to overcome the threat. Like what has happened in the past, such procurements would lead again to the birth of some more millionaires or billionaires, both in and out of uniform. That is at a time when those who disclose such blatant rip offs and rackets in the media have become the second, (or is it the first), enemy.

Through high-pitched official propaganda they have already been warned of the dubious titles they will qualify for through those exposures - being branded as acolytes of the enemy and even named traitors. They are destined to remain in the graveyard of silence or suffer the consequences for saying the truth. That is Sri Lanka today.

Siva,

With those qualifications you should come to Canada! You can land a good Federal Government posting. Nice fat pension at the end of your tenure :-)

Thats very interesting especially your sample job in the field too.

I guess after all I'll be going back to Lanka as I have people whom I care much. Money does make a huge difference and from what I get at the moment I don't complain.

I had a Tamil friend in Rio who was from Mannar said he was brought up in Zambia when their family left SL in 1983. Seems there are some guys from Zambia. Kenneth Kownda's country if I'm right.
