After british left the country they gave the power to sinhalese and tamils thought we can work with them and they did work with them
and tamils did work with tamils and the country was peacefull as that time we had no problem even though tamil wanted to run separate administration.
Jaffna was a peacfull society, crime rate is almost nil. politicians were all lawyers , bicycles got nicked were crimes reported here and there( that also blamed on sinhala traders who come to sell things there) . smuggling was one of traditional business in some parts ( it is people export electronic goods and import silk sarees.
but it brought the money into the economy and jaffna economy was at it best
people those businessmen had bought vehicles and money to even presidents.
then came racisit period standation aim to knock tamils from picture, sinhala only act and to aim sinhalese to get job priority and so on. many tamils lost their job and as one expect they protested. students protested and complained to the Tamil MPs but they could not do anything.
some tamil Mps were bought by the sinhala presidency ( just like today devananda,sangaree) they thought if they had this leaders covered they can getaway with it.
but those politicians are discredited and people were looking for leaderships
and many university students headed militant groups and they had the backing of all professionals and peoples. they had been attacked by police and then army.
people were all heavy handed by this time militancy had grown and they had started to attack the olice who come to attack them
then it came as a headche to srilanka.
india advised srilanka to go for federal or devolvve power. but the politicans not interested. they said they will loose the base. by this time militant group had attacked and killed few army personals then came the riots.
for the loss of few soldiers sinhala government justified killed 3000 tamils and distroy their assets and looted their homes and people had to look for life somewhere else. many countries had given open visa to the refugees to escape the death from sinahala mobs.
some tamils returned to north east realising what militents do is correct way.
because they were let down by the government by every possible way.
militants had a valid reason for the fight and they had 100% people back up.
by this time militants had grown from strength to strength.
they started beating army with bamboo stick now grown up to fight with guns and RPGs.
then the government also asked western government military assistants to crust the militant by this time politics become dirty word and militancy become fashanable.( because politics failed to address the need of the people)
then with the help of foreign governments srilankan government lauch all out attack and distroy tamils home and businesses in the noth with the names of libaration operations thousands of people are killed army had invaded all tamils homes and shoot any young age men many many schoo and college age boys were also killed it has once again strenghthen the anti government feelings. Tigers also got help from indian politicians and launch war and pushed the army into the barracks and they are locked up in barracks .
by this time considerable numbers of army alo got killed and nearly tens of thousands tamil civilions also got killed.
then the fight broke everywhere its it a ethnic conflict spread out of control
then india came with the mind to crush militancy and settle a base in srilanka
therefore it was kicked out by the LTTE with the help of srilankan government .
then came new presidents policy never changed.
then a women came with lots of promisees then she was sidetraced by his advisors and she also fall into kick back deals. ( its too much to resisit)
then she launched war saying 'war for peace'
nothing changed on the ground appart from army have been extra violant againt people but this time there was strict order to keep ' heart and mind '
in their head.
but it is somehow seems promissing something but nothing happend on the ground.
then came someone promissing peace deal to tamils. and tigers also fall for his word. and encourage people to vote.
voted and he won but tamils fundamentals problems are not solved.
time dragged and dragged people lost patience chandrka took his power and then later new election was called LTTE decided let the sinhalese decide who they wanted to elect. they elected a warmonger he gave priority to army and encourage army violance just like previous regimes and tamils felt we are back to square one and now sure for sure tamils believe separate state is the answer. on the otherhand the regime thinks military crush and ethnic cleansing is the answer.
srilanka for beeing its backyard of india ( a growing power) other country wanted to get their strong foot hold their .
just like if you ask Iran, if they want a military access to a island next to USA everyone know the answer.
same thing here appart from that noone care what is happening there.
srilanka counting on that bargaining power , tamil militants have the full backing of tamil dispora who become rich and skilled,
with that militancy had grown up from batton to air craft bombing , soon planes will be shooting each other down.
there is no sign of ending.
as one said if the politicians had done what many other countries did when there is a cthnic conflict today we wont be here talking about it.
it was those politicians who wanted to over ride the issue and those tamil politicians who failed to stand firm and sold tamils rights for their perks and money are to blame for the crisis.
even today the same scene repeating sinhala government wanted to short change tamils and there are few tamils who are betraying the entire nation for the silly perks they recieive.
if anyone who thinks governmet will getawy with this they are mistaken.
people of the age 30 onwards knows the histroy and they will continue to support militancy for the decades to come.
by genuine powersharing or separate state is not found this problem will contine for decades. and country will be a worse country to live in .
it wont take too long for tamils to repeat what sinhalese doing to tamils.
abduct school childrens or kill sinhala youths and bomb shops and businesses and shell all sinhala villages.
but tamils are not morons as sinhalese that is the difference and that is why we tamils wants to live peacefully in our own land.

We are only controlling LTTE Terrorism to the MANAGEABLE level... because as long as LTTE is around... they can used to get their own folks killed...

A very good statement by Thamilchelvam, should go down in history as a watershed in the Tamils fight for freedom.
The parity of power agreed between SL and LTTE is now strenghthened further, calling the GOSL's bluff.
The supporters of GOSL are blinded by punnakku, not reality!

Statements like these from Thamilchelvan are an indication of how successful SLAF have been against the LTTE over the past few months. Attack it self justify the SLAF success. Is SLAF that big of threat to your organization Mr.Thamilchelvan? |

Yes they have taken it very seriously, and Gotabhaya is planning to run back to USA, He was so scared,....
MR will give up he war and ask Prabhakaran to take care of the rest of he Tamils in he north.....
In contrary, I heard that GOSL is preparing for more fireworks, I hope Takaran Air Force is getting ready for Counter attack !!
Make sure the few planes you have is all you got, after exposing them to the GOSL, they are vulnerable for attacks unless you bury them in the ground as you did for cannons in the East....
Hope you are ready for the fireworks, We are ready,..... We want to see the Takaran Air Force flying over Colombo for the last time...... |
