I feel Marvan should come in against India on 23/03, his experience will be handy
I think Dilshan will be a better player and Marvan should sit out. Marvan is a superb bat as an opener but not in the Middle order. The advantage of playing dilshan is cos he is a Fantastic fielder. he can save 20 uns in teh field..Marvan is slow..
Regarding Missed chances and Mahela, i did not point out in a negative way but just stated the truth..Ponting was missed in the first mach against Scotland too but he made full use of it and went to score a superb 100.
Mahela is a stylish, technically correct Batsman and this innings is good for the Sri lankans
Imperator,
I did not know about Denis Compton's failure but he was a superb bat!! |

Karu
The real game begins at the next level 'The supper eights'.. so all these are just a warm up game for the test-nations!!
do not say that since your going to carry the 2 points to the Super 8's
Eg:- if sri lanka beats India and both India & sri lanka goes thorugh to Super-8 sri lanka will go with 2 points and India 0. |

I still feel there are a few surprises.Anything can happen in a Game of cricket!
1)Bangaladesh to beat India or Sri lanka
2)Kenya to beat New Zealand or England.
3) Ireland to beat Pakistan or West Indies |

Ok mahela.. at last you heard my call, but it was not at all light-stuff. 1st ball duck would have been the result had not you were dropped.
anyway, let your bat do the talking and keep our moputh shut. talk just a few words and then see the difference. |

any top team can carry any number of points against the minnows to the next level..
look at it mate, SL vs Bermuda its like the Ananda, Royal (top schools) playing big-match with the village kids! |

Mahela may have been a stylish batsman in the past, he maybe retaining some of his stylish strokes still but clearly he is out of form. With him in the middle-order, judging on his current form, in the event of failure by the openers, reviving the innings will be very difficult.
Before we go to take on battle with the better teams we have to have a serious review of our batting order or give up the hope of world cup. Edited By - donaldcleevel - 16 Mar 2007 14:00:54 |

| Being stylish doesnot carry any weight unless he scores enough runs. |

Karunadase,
for me still the Aussies are the team to beat!! any side capable of getting Ponting out early might stand a chance but still they got face the pace!
This is the best assessment. You can't write off the aussies with or without Ponting. As Guru soem smoe guy in the middle order comes for the resuce always. It is annoying too but that shows depth of Aussie talent.
Sri Lanka can beat Australia if our top order clicks. |
