What have Prabakaren achieved for the past two decades?
1. Whereas every few years there were island wide organized pogroms against Tamils, after 1983, there has been no major organized pogroms against Tamils.
2. Whereas before elections, Sinhalese parties and leaders like SWRD, Dudley etc, made pacts with the Tamil federal party and then tore them up, Now the government of Sri Lanka signs pact with LTTE. (CFA for one.)
3. Whereas, two decades before, Tamil question was , in the eyes of the government & the IC, only an in internal problem, now it has been internationalized. Too many IC players.
4. Whereas, the federal system was in the eyes of most Sinhalese a division of the island - so given by JRJ and UNP - now power devolution through federal system is - in the eyes of most Sinhalese a solution.
5. Whereas, for 69 and more years the governments of Ceylon/Sri Lanka failed to build a nation of Ceylonese/Srilankans, but rather kept divisions, among people of the island, as Tamils, Sinhalese, Burgers, Veddas and Muslims, not only the Tamils in the north and east of the islan but - commonly Tamils (98%) have been bonded, by VP and LTTE, as one - Nation. Tamil Elam. in contrast to this achievement, Sri Lanka only recently appointed 5 -Five Nation Building Ministers!! Shame not only for the sinhalese & the Governments of SL, but also more for UN, IC and Humanity!!
6. Whereas SL gets all kinds of support from the whole world, VP has continued to defend the Tamils from SLA forces and build only with the support of the Tamil people a de facto government of the Tamils, for the Tamils by the Tamils.
7. According to the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Boglollogame, in an interview with lord David Frost on Al Jazeera TV, 54% of Tamils live in the government controlled areas. If he is right, it means 46 percent of Tamils have been living in the LTTE controlled areas, for more than 20-30 years - under war and siege conditions. Shortage food, shortage of medicine shortage of building materials. They lived without elcetricity for almost 10 years. This shows clearly, that these Tamils trusted their leader and weathered all hardships under the leadership of LTTE.
Rather than vehemently object to the other side of the view, slander any one or blockade your own comprehension take time to analyse what is going on.

Lanka won?t accept Indians on SLN vessels
Interesting. Long before, GOSL requested India to conduct joint Naval surveillance in the Northern sea to impede terrorist movements. But India politely refused it as it can?t irritate the TN politics. Now TN politics has requested Indian navy to go aboard the SL Navy crafts. In other words to have joint patrols. Now GOSL have said no Indian navy on our crafts. So what coming is lets have patrols you on yours we on ours. On what basis TN politics will oppose it now? Is JR still alive? |

It is very much in SL's interest that circumstance are created to let TN fishermen conduct their legitimate business as usual in Indian territorial water.
Further disturbance in this regard will create issues that will have long term implications for SL.
SL shouldn't miss the bigger picture, even in the middle of hot and intense situations. |
