Sri Lanka`s gross violations of Human Rights must stop- Selvy
Monday, 12 March 2007 - 6:07 AM SL Time

Humanitarian Spokesperson of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), N. Selvy, Saturday expressed dismay at International Community`s discourse with Colombo by failing to adopt a humanitarian strategy to end the culture of impunity in Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) administered territory. Despite expressing reservations on the effectiveness of the International Independent Group of Eminent Persons (IIEGP) according to the terms and reference of Colombo, Selvy said: `if the monitoring system could discipline the Sri Lankan state and bring the culprits to book, it would be worthwhile.`

Amnesty International and the International Commission of Jurists had expressed reservations on the Sri Lankan excercise, she said.

Selvy added that she is suspicious of the real agenda of the Sri Lankan Government on its recent Commission of Investigations (CoI). `Past experience demonstrates that these types of Commissions had never allowed full investigations into the crimes or prosecution of the real criminals.

`The violations of human rights and humanitarian law in the Tamil homeland and other parts of the island against Tamil people have taken on such proportions as to be categorized as crimes of genocide,` Ms. Selvy said.

In a statement sent to media, she said: `In the past 15 months, over 1400 Tamil civilians were arbitrarily executed by the Sri Lankan armed forces and their para-military groups; over 500 Tamil civilians have been made victims of enforced disappearance ? Journalists have been killed and Tamil media organizations threatened.

`The international human rights community is well aware of the gross breaches to the International Humanitarian Laws (IHL) by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces in their military offensives including the attack on Trincomalee/Vaharai. In this situation, acting against the perpetrator of these crimes, the Sri Lankan state and its armed forces, is of utmost importance for re-enforcing the core values of the newly formed UN human rights body, the HRC.`

Responding to LTTE`s commitment to Human Rights standards, she said: `as a liberation movement which has to face the aggressions thrust upon our people, we have demonstrated our commitment and systematic improvement, excelling within the limitations of the environment of war, created by Colombo which attacks civilian targets, imposes an inhumane economic blockade and restricts the freedom of movement of the civilian population.`

The LTTE`s de-facto administration in the territories it controls further maintains order and safety for our people Tamileelam Judiciary, Police and Prison Administration. The institutions are interacting with UN bodies and International Humanitarian agencies.

`We have recently included the Child Protection Act (CPA) in the evolutionary process to improve the Tamileelam judiciary.`

LTTE duplicity exposed; startling revelation made by an ex- LTTE terrorist
By Nilantha Ilangamuwa

'He is a killer, was trained to be one even before he learned to write his name. In fact he never did learn to write, or to read for that matter. All he knew was to follow orders, plan a killing and execute it. He has never regretted his action...but today this former LTTE cadre trained in the art of killing since the age of seven, looks back at a life of wasted childhood and misguided ideals, and in his own words, relates his story a story that's filled with fear, thoughts of revenge, sorrow, despair and finally a glimmer of hope'.

Nilantha Ilangamuwa a special correspondent of the defence feature column, reports a startling revelation made by an ex-LTTE terrorist, who was initially recruited as a child soldier at the age of seven, into the ranks of the separatist terrorist outfit.

Recalling the dreadful memories of a past blotted with blood and bullet, the one time LTTE cadre, emphasizes that no longer Prabhakaran, is accepted as the sole representative of the majority Hindu Tamil community, who mainly live in peace and harmony under the government controlled areas. Astonishingly 54% of the Tamil community resides in the southern parts of the island nation, and many others have migrated under the veil of refugees to the western countries to build diasporas, which is mainly responsible for funding the Internationally banned terrorist outfit.

This 10-year-old, a soldier of the LTTE, was expert with the 11-inch mortar. Around his neck hangs his escape route -a cyanide capsule.

I was only seven-year-old when I joined the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in 1992. I was born in January 1985 in Karadiyanaru in the Batticaloa district. I never went to school. After joining the LTTE, I took up arms training. At that time I liked to kill people. We learned from the LTTE to kill people who were our opponents.

He is a killer, was trained to be one even before he learned to write his name. In fact he never did learn to write, or to read for that matter. All he knew was to follow orders, plan a killing and execute it. He has never regretted his action...but today this former LTTE cadre trained in the art of killing since the age of seven, looks back at a life of wasted childhood and misguided ideals, and in his own words, relates his story A story that's filled with fear, thoughts of revenge, sorrow, despair and finally a glimmer of hope.

I lost contact with my family 12- years-ago. My parents think I'm no more. I have one brother and one sister. They too never went to school. Even, my birthplace is under LTTE control. More than 500 LTTE cadres are deployed there. I got weapons and basic war-training under Pottu Amman, an Intelligence Head of the LTTE. I took complete pistol training, a six-month training programme under LTTE intelligence members. After that I joined the operations, in both civil dominant and war-torn areas.

We were set to the jungle as small groups. Its basic guerrilla tactics in the battle field. Some days, I'm the only one in the jungle without any contact with the others. During those periods, I survive on whatever food I can find in the jungle, and have on many occasions, used dynamite to kill fish. I sleep hidden in the branches of trees. There was no fear in my mind. It was a very interesting life. I have killed 85 persons with my own pistol, including anti-LTTE Tamil political parties, members - TELO, EPDP, PLOTE, Razik group's members.

The Razik group used to be more dangerous than other militant groups because they know the ground situation in Batticaloa and other Eastern parts better than others.

However the group leader was killed by the LTTE's suicide cadres in Batticaloa sometime ago, so that meant the end of the group activities too.

I was sent to Colombo to kill certain members of Tamil political parties on many occasions. But that doesn't happen frequently. Before my tour, I was instructed and advised by Pottu Amman as to what exactly I should do.

I wore school uniform and pretended to be a school boy. Because no one suspects a student and I can take on our enemies without being entrapped. I used to carry a bundle of books, but I could neither read, nor write anything even in Tamil.

One day, I was sent to Colombo to kill a Tamil political opponent. I waited for him at Armour Street in Colombo 15, close to the place where I had my lodging. About noon the politician came close to the place I was hiding in. This was en-route to the meeting he was attending at that time. When he came close enough, I shot him. I saw his blood flowing on his clothes for a while. I was happy as I had accomplished my mission. Especially since I was doing my part for our country (Tamil Eelam). It meant we are fighting for our own country. But, later I came to understand that Eelam war was a mythical dream.

Actually, I came to realise that the LTTE leader was playing with our lives and our future. He wants the blood of the Tamil youth, without liberating them. However I believed Tamil people were being discriminated and humiliated by the Sinhala people everyday. I heard about Black July, and I saw a video tape of that unfortunate incident so it was easy for me to believe I was doing a service to the Tamils, that I was helping to

liberate them from the claws of Sinhala racism. But only after I broke away from the LTTE did I understand that there isn't much of a difference between the Tamils and the Sinhalese, and all people are alike in their wish for peace and unity. And it's not just the Tamils and the Sinhalese who wish for peace, but also the Muslims and the rest.

Many LTTE leaders who came to East to attend meetings and the Heroes Day's ceremonies or passing-out ceremonies, would stay with us. Our home was a large house, larger than any other homes in the village. International representatives and the LTTE leaders would also conduct their meetings here because Karuna Amman had a better knowledge of the English language than other LTTE leaders including Prabhakaran.

I was abroad at the time Karuna Amman broke away from the LTTE. While abroad I decided to educate myself and joined an institute to learn English and Computer along with Tamil. The course lasted for six months, and this was my first experience in interacting with people openly, without any ulterior or murderous motives.

I returned to Sri Lanka two years later and joined the Karuna's political party. I am now a senior member of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puliggal (TMVP). Where there was anger and despair, there is hope now and I believe in a future - mine, and that of the Tamil people. Now I can read and write. I can even write Tamil songs. I know I was wrong during the past. Without good education, we lived in a dark period under the LTTE.

To begin with, LTTE terrorists, who have whacked entire villages of innocent civillians, pregnant mothers and children, appointing a Human Rights Spokeswoman terrorist, is the Joke of the Millenium....

Nothing else.

I rest my case..

Ok here is another punnakku for the LTTE lovers...

An LTTE major, named Kannan (he was known as a specialist in arms handling), has been killed by a claymore in wanni (Nedunkerni, animalai) and the cab in which he was travelling has been destroyed by the blast...5 of his fellow terrorist travellers were severely injured....and the LTTE has broadcast through their Tiger Voice, that the blast was engineered by Karuna faction....!!

In the Wanni heartland of the LTTE terrorists....

Either KAruna faction knows the wanni geography too well or our SF boys are going deep in....

Either scenarios are ok....

as long as LTTE Majors and top rankers are bombed....

ho ho ho....

Mr Brown decides to follow any thread from Tamilnet with something else so that the focus moves to the new thread!!
We should be allowed to discuss this thread in length before we move to a different thread that is more favorable to GoSL.

anyone else has the same view!

Tamil Eelam national leader Hon. Karuna Amman is going to give a Diplomatic position to Dr. Selvy in Eelam. Tamil Eelam people should proud of this well educated lady (grade five drop out)
