Hi My dear Thangachchi,

I am fine and just after a short trip..

I can understand how would you feel when the deadlines are approaching.. Perahps you can ask one of these people to help you(?????).

More than they being lazy, they have nothing to do, as there are no passengers at the airport due to many reasons.

But the GOSL is trying to build another airport in the South!!

They may have their own personal reasons!

May be take a few deep breaths whenever you feel tired!!

Kula,

That is a great observation and well portrayed here. In fact I am of the view that we don't need a second international airport. Being an environmentalist my self it has been known for the repercussions to the environment should this proposed airport in Weerawila go ahead.

Why the hell do we need another airport for? I have seen the Colombo sometimes completely empty and the shopowners beg me 'mahattaya monawa hari apita aran denna duty free eken' (sir, do buy something for us from the dutyfree). Is this what we want? its indeed shameful to see if the Weerawila gets the green light. On my way back to Lanka my driver from Katunayake and I had a lengthy conversation on this and he too agreed on me on the impact on the environment especially we have the 'Yala' sanctuary round the corner; what would happen to the poor creatures in this sanctuary? Its Mahinda's stupid Chinthana just ruining the nature of our country.

Once again Kula, well spotted it buddy!!

Thank you JRJ,

The airport project at Weerawila neither make economical nor operational sense. It is just a gimmick by Mahinda to fool the masses...

I wonder whether it will ever be built in his Presidential period. The Colombo airport is underutilized and I do not believe that it is a priority at least for the next 10 years, unless our problems are sorted out Tourism takes off.

Even then we will be better of developing Katunayake further before we invest in a second International Airport!

Kula uncle!
we came to know that one of my cousin married and blessed with a baby, shot death by unknown gunmen (his parents believe that the killers misfired on him). And other cousin has been abducted forcefully in another village. Even though they are ordinary peace loving people, not involved in any politics.

Petijo makal,

I am extremely sorry to hear this..

There are hundreds of stories similar to these where innocent civilians are abducted and killed everyday!!

Nobody seems to value the human life and it has become another story in local news papers!

We can only pray for their eternal peace and courage for their loved ones to get on with their lives...

Be strong and hope this meaningless cycle of violence would come to an end very soon..

Kula,
These pics were put on line a few years ago..but now the airport is much different and there is lot of BUZZ around the place..they even have a quick foot/head massage place..

Those days it was not that people are lazy but just that there were no visitors to buy except the SL's who were returning home or on holidays

when i went to SL last month the DUTY free had better service. there were ladies who accompanied you with the basket and gives you one to one information on special promotion etc..I ended up buying more than what i wanted to..lolz

Kula--listen to this Tamil song if you have the time..i love it
