Dear EElamaya,
MR is not that stupid. I was worried about India too but it seems like India is helping out Sri Lanka. Did you see Tamilnet said that India is going to give a ship to Sri Lanka? Also, India arrested some LTTEs last week.
I agree that Tamils have grievances. More than anything, I believe Tamils feel like that Sinhalese do not respect them. Yes, MR should introduce some measures to address the grievances of Tamils. AND I am 100% sure that he will. I believe he is smart enough to do that too. The thing is, he has to address grievances of Tamils while keeping southern Sri Lankan happy. May be, he is waiting until JVP and UNP are even weaker?
Like I said, MR has to keep the south happy while addressing the grievances of the Tamils.

REspect is not something given. that is something earned.
Because of Casteism, tamils have inferiority we can not help that, except we don't use that. |

Dear Asithiri,
Good point, I agree. But, I am worried that JVP will block and destabilize the government when MR introduce his power-sharing plans.
We Sinhalese have to understand that where Tamils are coming from. Just like us, Tamils are proud. Just imagine what would WE do if we were part of India and there was Liberation Lions of Sri Lanka? We would all support it. Right? Therefore, MR should introduce a power-sharing package and JVP should support it.
I think most Tamils are tired of war, but they are not ready stop supporting LTTE until they get at least some sort of power-sharing. I think after 30 years of war, Tamils have won some sort of power-sharing.

You seem to have high faith in Sinhala South... these people have no principles... you promise them a loaf of bread or two measures of rice they will vote for anybody... MR and Sinhala South is not ready to accept the will of the IC... thats when IC will come up with its own plan... which will be Eelam! sorry to say it to good Sinhala biy like you... but that will be the fact! |

Dear Asithri,
The thing is, LTTE can not be defeated 100% for a long time. But, LTTE can be and SHOULD be weakened so that LTTE is not a factor anymore. I think MR will do that within the next 5 years.
With all due respect, Tamil in Sri Lanka are not happy. They are not happy being Sri Lankans. They have grievances and it has to be addressed. MR must introduce some sort of power-sharing plan that is acceptable to Tamils.
We have to create a nation where Tamils feel proud to be Sri Lankans and want to be Sri Lanks. We do not have that now.

Dear Eelamaya,
Anything could happen, but you will never see Ellam. MR has very good relations with USA for obvious reasion and MR is not that crazy to make IC unhappy.
Do you really think MR would do anything HUGE to make IC turn on Sri Lanka? No way. He has no reason to.
But, I really hope Tamils get some sort of automony so they will be happy and proud to be Sri Lankans. No Ellam though. That is a BIG NO.

Dear Jayasikuru,
'Nyways....... Do you think their is a possibility like dat ?? i mean ltte mounting attack...on south ??' Yeap. LTTE has shown that they could attack anywhere in Sri Lanka in many diffrent ways. It won't be easy with Gotabaya Rajapaksa, but it could happen.
However, LTTE can not turn the south of Sri Lanka in to a war-field because they are not that strong.
Let me ask you this, be honest. Do you feel like security in Colombo is much better/tighter than before?
