And who do we know it was a LTTE vassel which was carrying the said shells? |

No this would've been for karuna and co. :)
10,000 is an estimate... why would you take a 70m or so ship and smuggle about 10-20 arties.. a 35 footer boat can carry more :)
forget the ship...even if it's not ltte....there was a lot of illegal weapons destroyed... good for the whole world :)
