Such a big vessel is not operated by fisherfolk in SL. the fishing trawlers are mainly 35-45 footers...
even the longliner boats operated by companies are not this big in SL...
Navy has recovered outboard motors, nightvision and other optical gear plus arti shells... LTTE vessel or not...it's a good kill :)
illegal arms dealers should be put to death...sea graves are the best...

http://www.scaletronic.dk/floating_containers.htm
Hmm actually that is pretty interesting reading, never knew they lose so many containers out there yikes!
I can also understand why those containers don't sink right away, due to the slow influx of water.
But that aside, I gathered this was not a container ship, and usually artillery rounds are packed in those wooden crates, so not sure if the same properties apply.
For example:

Oh well ok I'll give the SLN the benifit of the doubt ;) Edited By - Revy - 1 Mar 2007 05:04:33 GMT |

No, artillery shells can't be float.
To the news briefing that I have got, SLN found only the empty wooden boxes which used to store artillery shells and on those boxes clearly marked what type of shells store in them.
Hmm then it seems that tamil net and nationalinsecurit.lk may have been right, both claimed the ship was heading out to sea, so guess they unloaded their cargo?
To add to that the SLDF claimed the LTTE Sea Tiger action prior to this incident near trinco was a distraction. Now they only carry out such distractions during iunloading. So if this ship did contain 10,000 artillery rounds, I think it is safe to safe the LTTE now have them and the ship was returning after unloading?? Any ideas? WOW new method of unloading cargo, what is the exact method they used
1. Get on to the ship, open boxes unload artillery pieces one by one
OR
2. Unload the artillery boxes, remove shells from each box, and reload the ship with empty boxes
Guess even terrorists wants recycle & be environmentally friendly these days |
