The identitiy of the vessel is yet to be established.
There is a naval patrol protocol before shooting at any vessel under international maritime law..and that is to request the ship/vessel to identify itself..under IML, a ship/vessel is prohibited to sail without a flag..and the patroling Navy first vedeos this..and then if the request to identify is not heeded, the patroling navy ask the vessel/ship to stop for inspection...if this too is not heeded, warning shots are fired..if the vessel/ship doesn't heed the warning, under maritime protection, the patroling navy has the right to shoot at the vessel and cripple it to stop its moving...if this is not possible, the patroling navy has the right even to destroy the vessel/ship...
and the marvel is that all the correspondence to this end with the vessel/ship is electronically recorded...
I guess the truth will come out right when the SLN submit this electronic and video evidence...
and when the truth comes out, the Tamilnut would not publish it...!!
