From the BBC
The government has admitted that it did not provide advance notice, but military spokesman Upali Rajapaksa told the BBC that this was hardly necessary.
now look sat the reason given
'Bearing in mind the Tigers were sufficiently well-informed to target the defence secretary in December as he moved about in Colombo, how can they credibly claim not to be aware of such a high-powered foreign delegation going to Batticaloa?' he asked.
i guess the delegation goes to batti on a routine mission EVERYDAY eh!! |

..Ambassador Weerth denied the Tamil claims, saying the helicopter landed on a sports field.
Seems Ambassador Weerth doesn't know how the SLDF works then, they use everything from paper mills to schools as military bases, so yes it may be a sports field but it was part of Bati Military HQ.
Here is something to enlighten the Ambassador:
SLA imposes 6 pm curfew around Weber stadium
(TamilNet, March 15, 2003 18:39 GMT)
The 23-3 Brigade of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) which is located in close proximity to the Weber stadium in Batticaloa, has prohibited the use of the Weber stadium sports facilities after 6 p.m, sources said. Youths and other users of the playing fields are also being subjected to severe body search, added sources.

Gore: you are mistaken, there is a difference! and you fail to see the difference!
Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia-atrocities committed on these people (dude 300,000 died in a matter of months!), the people did not practice terrorism, just had elections to democratically go about the way after Tito the iron fisted rule who kept Yugoslavia together after the WWII died.
These people had elections, then ratified those elections, and all ethnic groups agreed! Then came Yugoslavia that killed about 200,000 in 6 months alone and another 100,000 in 12 months
Sri Lanka population and Yugoslavia population the same-go check
Sri Lanka-65,000 in 30 years! and about 50/50 death ratio from sinhalaese and Tamil - so not a genocide or massacre
People are dying of terrorism
LTTE was told by USA clearly and cleanly that if they renounce terrorism they would be on their path to EElam.
but NO, prabha did not want to renounce terror
so it seems that LTTE was notified of the Diplomatic Plans but still attacked.
There are rumored that LTTE cadre who did this are going to be executed.
I wonder how that plays to LTTE recruitment?
how can you liberate people when you are the oppressor,
LTTE stop the oppression then Tamils would be liberated overnight. ! |

This reminds me of the assassination the Indian PM, Rajiv Gandhi. In an interview to an Indian News channel, LTTE's chief negotiator Anton Balasingham said
As far as that event (Rajiv Gandhi's assasination) is concerned, I would say it is a great tragedy, a monumental historical tragedy for which we deeply regret and we call upon the government of India and the people of India to be magnanimous to put the past behind and to approach the ethnic question in a different perspective .
So like Mr. Rasiah Ilanthirayan said yesterday that I express our regret at this unfortunate incident even the assassination the Indian PM, Rajiv Gandhi is a tragedy? What a joke!! The LTTE ordered and planned an assassination. It was a tragedy for India and the world, but for the LTTE it was a mission. In the same way, this attack on the US and Italian ambassadors was 'an unfortunate incident'. Attacking people with deadly weapons and embedding shrapnel in their bodies is an attack not a tragedy Edited By - eskimo06 - 27 Feb 2007 16:49:50 GMT |

Cry wolf :):)
This is a simple procedure that has been intentionally ignored in Batticaloa by the Sri Lankan military.'
all the sudden LTTE is talking about international/diplomat procedures. :)
Which internation procedure permitted them to smuggle arms, pirate ships, extort money ??
this is the result of 'fools led by the criminal'. Edited By - MaKaSo - 27 Feb 2007 16:52:20 GMT |
