Even if government informed LTTE do you think they would have beleived it? I mean GOSL could take ARMY personel saying that they are foreign deplomats!
Therefore LTTE is tring to hide their terrorism and it is coming up with this DUMB explanations
They shouldn't have fired in the first place. |

Ohh! This is getting interesting now as more information comes out..
''..Tamil rebel spokesman Irasiah Ilanthiryan was quoted on the pro-rebel website TamilNet as saying they 'regretted' causing injuries to the diplomats, but blamed the government for flying the diplomats into an airfield that was usually used by the military. ''
..Ambassador Weerth denied the Tamil claims, saying the helicopter landed on a sports field.

Lets wait for the US response shall we..
We can assess the gravity of the incident based on that; if the Tigers get a slap on the wrist then it's a non issue, if the SL government gets blamed for this - major incident..
If the Tigers get blamed for this - that's when this situation gets real interesting!!.. |

So LTTE wants sri Lanka to inform them when GOSL carry foregners. I hope USA beg AL Quaida to donīt attack When Tony Blair is on visit in Afganistan. Doesīt it sound like a big Joke? Sri Lanka has no needs to inform a terrorist group. LTTE terrorists are born to die by SL military power. Let them do that . Heavy bombing on the way. Cheears !!1

This is sad
HIS EXCELLENCY Michael Lummaux, French Ambassador in Sri Lanka who narrowly escaped unhurt in the Tiger terrorists? mortar attack along with several other diplomats and Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe in Batticaloa Tuesday (27) morning, vowed that his country with the help of international community would do everything possible to wipe out terrorism.
Talking to media personnel in Colombo minutes after his abrupt return to Colombo with others following the LTTE mortar attack earlier on the day while they were on assignment said that this was the first-ever terrorist attack experienced in his life in the execution of his legitimate duties as an Ambassador.
?This is the first time in my life I got caught to a terrorist attack of this nature. I was terribly frightened. This act goes against all conventions of war. Before we proceeded to Batticaloa we informed all our corresponding agents in Batticaloa, both diplomatic and state levels of the pending meeting. We have now had first-hand experience of LTTE terrorism, and we would definitely take it up at international level,? he was quoted saying to the media.
Recalling the ordeal in Batticaloa, Minister Samarasinghe and others charged that the LTTE with precision targeted the bigger helicopter (MI ? 17) that was carrying the majority of the delegation that were to discuss matters related to resettlement of displaced Tamil people. The first small helicopter (212) after dropping several state officials at the same location at first flew away facilitating the VIP entourage to land afterwards. ?So how could one argue that it was not targeted? This was a deliberate attempt of homicide planned by terrorists after learning the air movement of the VIPs,? Military Spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe was quoted saying.
All Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and civil committee representatives in Batticaloa were informed of the scheduled meeting well in advance and all preparations for the meeting at the Batticaloa Divisional Secretariat got smoothly underway as planned until this terrible terrorist act struck. A huge representation was awaiting their arrival.
Panic and shock engulfed the area with the news that a student has also been injured in the LTTE mortar fire forcing a nearby school to close their sessions early on the request of the parents. Security remains tight in the area with reinforcement of Police personnel to Batticaloa centre and surrounding areas.

| Where have you heard this - 'It is a stunning fact to consider that just as the United States, France, England, Germany, Russia and Italy roll their troops into Kosovo to preserve the peace and secure human rights and self-determination, these same states have become active leaders in the drive to rewrite international law denying self-determination to Fourth World nations all around the world.' |
