It seems like a whole day celebration for Sinhalese over this incident looking for free gifts and expecting the west to keep silent over the 4000 Tamils deaths. Unfortunately to their disappointment even the injured were not that bothered or keen to comment on this.

Current Situation: Everyone on this forum and in the policy making realms of the west knows that the LTTE unintentionally caused injury to the visiting US/European diplomats.

Current Evil Hope: Hope the Americans and Europeans are not 'intelligent' enough to understand this and end up helping the GOSL in their aggression against their smaller neighbor.

Probable situation after 30 days: American policy is going to be worried about the intentional attacks in Afghanistan and Iraq and not this unintentional accident. Public memory in the west is going to remember that Sri Lanka is not safe and tourism is going to dip.

Piyal,

Gaja, What's your point ?

That LTTE are now able to point to the responsibility of the GOSL to protect these people. Likewise the security for ordinary Tamil not directly involved in the war. This is an encouragement for the LTTE to know what their responsibilities are - for they are saying that if they had known they would not have continued with the attack.

Eskimo06,

Gaja, Is LTTE that clueless?

LTTE have the responsibility not to speculate but to use information that is publicly made available to them by the government. That is the responsibility of an opposition. I see the LTTE moving into that political mode.

TN Tamil & Gaja

Re- 'hope-ful' analysis .. Yes, you could probably console your-selves this way. But the four (04) Ambassadors: US, French, Italian and German, who were there .. are not going to forget in a 'hurry'.

(You can 'chew' that over, again)

What I see is LTTE has -removed-ed up big time.
I hope you are aware of Dick Chaney's incident in Afghanistan.
I don't see any difference between this and that. I don't think the IC will buy LTTE's story about this. After all LTTE has got into the trap of GOSL/SLA.
The GOSL might have taken them in to that area, but the whole IC saw LTTE was attacking them. That's what GOSL wanted, and no matter what you (LTTE) say, the IC saw only one picture.
The LTTE has yet again failed to understand the tactics of GOSL. What I see is this government has shown the maturity toward this problem than any of the previous governments, and at the same time, LTTE had failed as it never had.

I have just one question.
Don't you see anything wrong in LTTE's side regarding this ?

I think LTTE caught red handed in attacking civilians, That's what GOSL wanted, and MR must be laughing from both sides now.

The message the ambassadors are going to remember is that if GOSL can put foreign dignitaries in arms way to gain international sympathy they would massacre their own people without blinking an eye and blaming the opposition for shorterm gain knowing only GOSL media is at work.

If anybody is getting some political advantage from this incident, that would be GOSL. That will in turn help SL military justify why they should capture the remaining areas in the east. So Thoppigala tigers basically invited SL military to kick their AZZES today.
