Italy's ambassador to Sri Lanka and six servicemen were slightly injured on Tuesday when a delegation of diplomats led by the island's human rights minister came under rebel shelling in the restive east, officials said.
'The Italian ambassador was admitted to hospital with light injuries to his head,' a member of the elite Special Task Force police commandos said on condition of anonymity. The military confirmed an ambassador had been hurt.The attack came as helicopters carrying Disaster Management and Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe as well as ambassadors from the United States, European Union, Canada and Germany and France landed in the restive eastern district of Batticaloa on a goodwill mission. -Reuters Alertnet

Ok folks....I guess the LTTE is self-nailing thier own coffin one after another...
Try to control your excitement old boy at the thought of iminent help coming to save your 'country'.
What are they going to do ban the LTTE over again LOL, try and stop arms shipments? Oh wait they have already done all that haha. Maybe you hope Italian troops are now on their way on the first flight ove eh ;)
Instead you should be worrying about how the LTTE (in the 'cleared' east) knew when these two helicopters were coming in with VIPs on board hmm (or maybe they didn't)?
Certainly not a good thing for the LTTE, but really short of getting involved in the fight themsleves, never going to happen, what is the USA or Italy going to do that they don't already do.
Too bad they missed the government goons though, such a shame, waste of good mortars. Better luck next time boys, good hunting. |

Thank you for your response. Self Determination is another word for independence. Every human being is entitled to seek independence / self-determination.
As for the influence of West on Sri Lanka - I observe your side being more influenced than my side.

The GOSL claimed they are in full control of the EAST? How could the LTTE attack from there?
Maybe it was the GOSL back to its old tricks , trying to put the blame on LTTE for the attack they committed. Hoping the IC will come to their rescue.
This sounds more like a GOSL's drama. |

When vakare fell, Rasaiah told media that they never controlled the East, but operated in Guerilla mode...they never said that they don't operate in the EAst...
and this attack is proof for their guerillaa mode tactics...

For 30 years you had 6 different leaders who promised to destroy the LTTE but till today only one remain = VP
at least the 6leaders were elected.The people are free including the moderate intelligent tamils which constitutes 60% of the tamil poulation that lives outside the control of the tyrant thug holed up in a bunker within abunker sh-t scared of his life. The reason he is still there is because he is a bloodsucking dictator using the poor tamil children to protect him while his children are well educated abroad.so why dont you get some sense into your head and join the majority moderate tamils in trying to save the tamil population from that criminal who is wanted around the world |
