To All who contribute irrespective of race, religion and gender.
How sad it is ! Went through over 300 odd responses and found nothing that smacks of any intelligent comment. Its a long string of name calling, mud slinging, hate spreading and vengeance accumulation.
I believe, the larger majority is from the diaspora, from what they say against each other. I've come across most of these arguments before in other threads. The main reason for such empty, egoistic banter is, such people DON'T HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY to the SL society and the people in this society, who have to live by the day, facing all the atrocities of a bloody savage war. Whether North, East, West or South. Escalation of the war has given way for a ruthless regime that's corrupt to the core. The cost of living is soaring and all public services are inefficient and crumbling.
We living here need an end to this war. Twenty years and more, we have been hearing the same arguments over and over again. 'LTTE is weak. Army is winning. LTTE cadres are defecting. Weapons and ammunitions found. East is cleared. Next will be Jaffna. All who support peace now are terrorist sympathisers.' we've been told. These are decades old sayings and hold no water any more within the SL society. May be the diaspora could go on saying and arguing on them.
RECALL YOUR MEMORY PLS. EARLY 1994, PRESIDENT DBW CLEANED UP THE EAST AND HELD ELECTIONS TO PRADESHIYA SABHAS AND URBAN COUNCILS. MOST PARTIES INCLUDING UNP, SLMC, EPDP, PLOTE AND INDEPENDENTS CONTESTED.ELECTED LG BODIES WERE ESTABLISHED.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED BY THEN? NORTH HAD FALLEN ALTOGETHER. AND IN END 1994 WHEN CHANDRIKA AS PRESIDENT SENT HER DELEGATION TO NEGOTIATE PEACE, THEY HAD TO GO TO JAFFNA UNDER LTTE ESCORT.
So the next battle was to regain the North. By the time Gen. Ratwatte raised the Lion flag in Jaffna, the East had fallen again to the LTTE.
Again we are told the East will be totally cleared after Thoppigala. Living in SL, we know that Thoppigala is not the end in itself. Karuna knows better. He knows how fortified the Kokkadicholai LTTE base is. He couldn't keep Kokkadicholai to him after he defected. That's where his HQ was when he was East Commander. The GOSL does not speak about Kokkadicholai when talking about the East.
So why waste time on Sripathi's comments on Karuna, when that's not the issue for us here ? Those are petty issues that would eventually fade off, if the major issue of the war is discussed at length. War needs to be concluded asp. The only possible way is to negotiate the possibilities of living in a single country, while sharing power as civilised, honourable citizens of Sri Lanka. But that needs a committed political leadership, willing to democratise society. What we lack here today is such a leadership. So lets discuss that issue of how SL could have a serius dialogue in ending the war.

SLA with lot of hard work Captured East. then the CFA came and LTTE took it over slowely and then began to talk big saying they have 70% of their mythical Tamil HOMO land.
A - 9 is also like that.

| Sripathy is a two toung guy. He was sacked from SLN as he had robbed ration foods of SLN when he was working as a sailor in the supply division. Now he creates another story saying government has planned to kill Karuna. I wonder whether he is in LTTE's pay list. Everybody knows LTTE wants to kill Karuna and Duglus Devananda. But this is the first time I came to know government plans to kill Karuna. If LTTE would kill Karuna in future international community may say it was done by government. This is a good point for a low caliber lawyer like Sripathy. |

The life of Mr.Little Karuna is not so important for any peace between LTTE and the gouverntment. Therefore, it will be stupid to imagine to kill this poor, useless man who
betrayed his own race for his own safe and money. One day he will understand that how far he has destroyed the tamil communities in the eastern province with the help of gouvernment forces. people like Karuna and Mr.ananada Sangree will understand ( if they have little brain ) their foolishness by working with the gouvernment to destroy the tamil communities.
As declared recently by former Minister Mr.Samaraweera
that the Tamils living in the capital are scared to go out because of constant harrassement of government which led even to total disappearance without any reasons.
By reading this article, I hope that Mr.Karuna and Mr.Ananada Sangree will stop all their anti-tamil activities from now onwards. We don't like LTTE and we don't also like all three goverunment forces in the north and the present gouvernment.
compared to suffering of millions of Tamils, the life of Karuna is nothing and it is only small and we don't bother even , if something goes wrong to this unwanted stupid man. |

Compared to Karuna ..Siripathy is a 'feather-weight'. Other than talking 'big' (at one time, as a 'spokes-man' for GOSL .. when he had the protection of the Army), he has risked very little. For totally selfish reasons he got side-lined, and now comes up with 'cooked-up' stories of GOSL wanting 'to do away' with Karuna ! His 'head needs to be examined' .. looks like he is going 'ga-ga' .. Why indeed should GOSL want to see Karuna 'out of the picture', when he is 'so help-ful' to the efforts being made to 'contain' VP & the LTTE ?
Whatever his 'past' .. if Karuna remains committed to 'democratic government', and has the interests of the Tamil speaking people of the Eastern Province, he must be supported .. Hope he eventually 'rises' to become CM of the Eastern Province, and help GOSL to administer that region.

East was taken over by the LTTE when the PA Govt decided to abandon East & concentrate all its troops on North for Jayasikuru. These are well known facts. |
