Many Sinhalas in this forum, perhaps all Sinhalas in the South as well, wishes to make Karuna look like a leader to Tamils... in fact he is a traitor to Tamils.... praising him is clear indication of the desperation of Sinhala people... instead of trying to solve the Tamil problem...

Perhaps the best way to find out is to have a referandum and let the Batti Tamils decide.

I am disturbed by the statement 'The human resources of the North and the Natural Resources of the East are an integral part of Tamil Eelam' Obviously the Vanni leadership doesnt think much of the 'human resources' of the East.

Then lets look at the much publicised discrimination Tamils face in entering Universities. Now the entrance cut off marks for Medicine/Engineering for Colombo district and Jaffna district are around 280 I recollect. (I dont hear Colombo Sinhalese complaining of discrimination though) The cut off marks for the predominantly Tamil districts of Batticoloa, Vavuniya and Killinochi (not to mention the Indian Tamil districts of Nuwara Eliya and Hatton) are around 180. So tell me for whose benefit is this war for equal rights? Have the rights of Tamils in the East and Vanni not been somewhat sidelined by the Jaffna Tamil elite?

Ari,

It is astonishing that GOSL is oblivious that they behave as if the Tamils are not Sri Lankans

I have nothing but sympathy for your concern and as rightly so.

But let me envisage a common factor to Sri Lanka. It is understood and common knowledge that Sri Lanka is predominantly Sinhalese ca. 75% and the rest are all mixed including Tamils,Muslims,Burghers, Malays, Chinese, Japanese, Hippies and Veddhas etc. So inorder to carry out each and every language of those people who reside in the country would be quite understandably an arduous job. In fact I am pleased that every now and then the commentaries are made in all 3 languages, which as opposed to many developed countries.

So despite many concerns I don't think addresses by the president and the national anthem will be in all 3 languages unless we are separated. Its a dilemma but that is how it takes Ari. If I were tamil I am sure I would have felt the same way for once. But, aren't we all Sri lankans and isn't it the norm that majority language precedes all other? Bit like everything is done in Brazil is Portugese despite there are a huge number of Spanish speaking people live in. Russia have the same thing, so why the Sri lanka has to be otherwise. Isn't it why Sri lanka is not a state of India?

I am sure time and time again it must stressed that Sri Lankans should know all languages but you cannot have 3 national anthems or 3 jayamangala gathas for that matter.

Tarquin dude how can say that....I know the ground situation perhaps a bit better than you because I have been there as recently as 1 month ago.

LTTE will always go on with terrorist activities..that is 100% sure

but LTTE's conventional activities are gone in the east

as you know from many reports LTTE lost east due to very poor leadership-they w/d so quickly they could not even conceal their weapons properly.

Even LTTE eastern leaders bodies were captured while they were transported to north by boat.

East must be cleared...the poonakku Mangala and gang..were the ones who ran the war before when disaster after disaster took place...

What SLA is doing is a well planned out operation...you must make the snooze all around the enemy

the CBK government had this grand plan to attack hard LTTE targets and they failed because they left all the other regions open so LTTE could recruit thousands of thousands of people to fight in the north.

This leader to a key ratio Tamil National Leader Hon Karuna Amman said few days ago: decreased participation ratio...

now that our Leader Hon Karuna Amman is in charge of East it will be difficult for the LTTE to run its operations there.

but then most of them do hit the LTTE in the face, no? That is why Tamilnet is not mentioning no, that is why all foreign wires are buzzing, no? Oh, i forgot, if its not on Tamilnet, then its not true!
