My view is that, the Sinhalese will not find a solution to the national question without countering head-on the Sinhala Buddhist Chauvinism. Who has the back born to do just that? Certainly not MR!

Sinhala Buddhist Chauvinism is a term coined by the pro- LTTE media. Sri Lanka had a long tradition of Buddhist values and cultures long after the birth place of Buddhism turned its back in it. Therefore many Buddhist priests and strong Buddhists feel that they are the custodians of Buddhism. Ancient Kings were tasked with protecting Buddhism at all costs. It evolved in to a point that Buddhism became the greatest political tool in Sri Lanka. Just like Catholism is in Italy and the way the Church of England dictates terms to the British parliament and throne. th problem lies in not having a proper education system, JJ's 2/3 majority nonsense and the bloody party politics. NOT a TAMIL issue. All this trouble stemmed out of the lack of education and the lack of foresight at the beginning. We are just killing ourselves for few idiot's misjudgments.

What is Chauvinism The definition: Sounds more like LTTE than anyone else!

Chauvinism is extreme and unreasoning partisanship on behalf of a group to which one belongs, especially when the partisanship includes malice and hatred towards a rival group. The term is derived from the undocumented Nicolas Chauvin, whose legend made him out to be a soldier under Napoleon Bonaparte whose fanatical zeal for his Emperor induced him, though wounded seventeen times in the Napoleonic Wars, to continue nevertheless to fight for France.

So Sinhalese Hate Tamils?

if that is the case why are Tamils and Sinhalese united outside and inside of sri lanka

why are Tamils and Sinhalese marry each other? why do Sinhalese go to Tamil temples to worship Hindu gods?

you want to see subtle hatred towards other groups. come to the America and travel down deep south and look at how blacks are treated by whites.

LTTE Chauvinism towards all, and we must end that suffering for once...Tamil diaspora are realising after those losses that LTTE is pilling on,,,

LTTE lost over 3 billion rupees worth of Armed equipment, that does not include any other material losses

3,000,000,000 / 100 per dollar = US $ 3.000,000 million dollars
of hard earned money extorted from Tamils....
so what is the use of this...it all ends up at the same useless point!

The Tamil National Leader Karuna Amman will decide the fate of LTTE.

Many Sinhalas in this forum, perhaps all Sinhalas in the South as well, wishes to make Karuna look like a leader to Tamils... in fact he is a traitor to Tamils.... praising him is clear indication of the desperation of Sinhala people... instead of trying to solve the Tamil problem...

Moby1975,

I am sorry that the term SINHALA BUDDHIST CHAUVINISM has upset you. I can understand that a true Buddhist will have heavy heart on this issue.

However, my question is that, why oh why, the good Buddhists allow some fools to high-jack Buddhism for their fringe benefits? Do you really believe that, if the power base is devolved to the regions, will have any impact on Buddhism? If anything, the Buddhism will thrive in all parts of the island.

Is it the case that, the non-Buddhists cannot be at helm in any shape or form?

Imagine what the US will do if the Mexicans want California and Texas as a part of Mexico just becasue there are many Mexicans there? Imagine Miami being taken over by Cuba or any of the many Latin American countries just because they outnumber the majority 'whites'. They will bomb them back to the sea!

The Americans have their own way of doing things and I grant you that they are pretty good at bombing. SLAF has 3 Kfirs that carry 2 bombs each (not that we should ever want to emulate the Yanks in that department)

But it is also true that Mexicans and Cubans have emigrated into America because they feel they get a far better deal there than in their own countries. So why would they want to fight to make California part of Mexico after having jumped the fence to escape from Mexico in the first place?
