The reality is this ethnic conflict will go on for at least 50 years

rajapakse or any other forthcoming pres. will never offer a solution acceptible to tamils, and what tamils will ask will never be acceptible to the gov.

at the moment, the tigers have lost few places in the south, but they are still unbeatable in the northern front and continue to recieve weapon shipments

we heard similar stories about east, when Fonseka said he will capture East in two months. Some LTTE hooters even told us to wait for 2months and SLA will be beaten back. Tamilnet said attacks repulsed. but it only took weeks for the tigers to abandon large guns and run for the jungle (Wanni).

The LTTE is not confined North even in North Jaffna is under SLA.

LTTE has not been in such a week stage since jayasikiru. lets see if they can bounce back.

reason why LTTE lost the east is that while the army was concentrating on taking control of the east, the LTTE should have launched offensives from vannii. this would have spread the army, so the eastern tigers would not face the full barrage of the army, and there would be fighting on both the eastern and northern fronts

LTTE basically allowed army to take the east, now i admit it is easier for army to take over the north as the east is less of a threat for them. this time LTTE really let down the tamils

perhaps its time that all parties forget about lost or gained ground and think about the poor refugees from all ethnicities that are caught between.... a never ending war is like a see-saw. You go up and down but the central issue never moves. make any sense?

Neither SLA nor LTTE can win this war! Political solution aceptable to Tamils is the only way. Then we can invalifate the reason for existance of terrorism and get more resources from outside!

Yea SLA or LTTE cant win this, but LTTE is much weaker than anyone thought. They lost half of what they had in two weeks and that cant be tactical withdrawal.

yea. i think, and am hoping MR is working on a devolution package.

May be MR is just waiting till the sinhala extremists calm down a bit (JVP,JHU).

But LTTE should be irradiated before any solution, else it wont any of it to be implemented.

LTTE have made mistakes, even with their own tamil people. but if you look at hamas and their freedom struggle, or ANC and their freedom struggle for the blacks in apartheid South africa, i would say hamas and ANC did worse to their own people compared to LTTE. still, hamas and ANC are/were regaded as geniune freedom fighters (exept few biased governments) fighting for a worthy cause

name a freedom struggle where mistakes have not been made, except mahatma gandhi?
