Pera,

Milahu is black pepper...

Tamils also use a lot of Coriander in our Chili masala powder and even in the coffee powder.

Perhaps that too can be an interesting subject to study!!

Cheers
Kula

This whole thing about discrimination is a subjective matter..
i dont think tamils in sri lanka are discriminated just because of their race and religion. as a matter of fact the same feelings are there with the sinhala youth in the rural areas as against the colombo( hope you all remember the slogan ' colobata kiri apata kakiri').
as for me this the cost we have to pay for the democracy( so that the 51% will dictate the terms for the whole 100%)

Tigress, once in Sydney I had a soup at a Tamil friends house. That had fish in it and was very oily. She mentioned that it is a type of molagatawny as well. Is there a variation. It did have loads of coriander though.

Makal Tigeress,

OK, now I understand.

I like the way you avoid the letter 'h' when spelling tamil words. I admire your love for the language.

It is the correct way as we do not have the sound 'ha' in Tamil but 'ka'.

Jayasikuru, for a change lets swap recipes, as I am a bit tired of locking horns with you. So I extend the hand of friendship through cyberspace and call for a truce. I obviously cant keep up with your ranting and raving and badly spelled insults.

Pro LTTE Tamilnet?s refusal to publish the Catholic Church?s statement of the condemning the priest killing finally confirmed that the killers of the Eravur Hindu priest was indeed the LTTE. The Sri Lankan military websites, including the popular defense.lk gave maximum prominent to the statement given by Catholic Church condemning the brutal murder of the priest. However, Tamilnet.com editors under the orders of Daya Master had refused to publish it.

?The LTTE?s efforts to link the murder of the Hindu priest to Army and Karuna group had been a big failure. Efforts had been taken by LTTE cyber hitman Sethu Nadarajah to link the killings to the government. But the LTTE had not yet condemned this killing although they blamed the military for the killing. They had also refused to publish the statements of the Catholic Churches regarding the killing which unquestionably confirm the LTTE complicity in the killing,? according to a political commentator.

The Catholic Bishop of the Eastern region the Rt. Rev. Dr. Kingsley Swamipillai has said that the assassination of innocent Hindu clergyman Selliah Parameswara Kurukkal could be considered a peak form of barbarism.

'Whatever the religion, a priest has an obligation to attend to the sinner or saint. Clergymen stand above all differences and boundaries to bring solace to those who go to places of worship,' Bishop Swamipillai said

He further states that the Hindu priest Parameswara Kurukkal also did his part as a clergyman when President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Vakarai and the cold blooded assassination of Parameswara Kurukkal is against humanity.

The Catholic Bishop of Mannar the Rt. Rev. Rayappu Joseph in his condemnation said that the clergymen in the North and East played an important role in bringing relief spiritually to the civilians haunted by the ongoing warring conditions in the North and East. 'The clergy-men perform their rituals to bless whoever comes to them in search of peace of mind.

The Jaffna Bishop Rt. Rev. Thomas Savuntharanayagam strongly condemned the killing of Parameswara Kurukkal and said that the assassination was brutal and barbaric.

Pera

I am against any killings!! I would not support or advocate killings of civilians and politicians specially!! even th outright crooks!! But when you look at Douglas Karuna and even Sangaree are involved in paramilitary activities!! thing get clouded!!

To be honest I still dont understand why they killed Amir! I think it is a mistake even the killers would one day admit!!

I really laugh at people who justify racism, discrimination on that basis and deny basic human right to Tamils, even to sinhalese or muslims for that matter!

LTTE are a matured or maturing organisation, we will see different politics soon I hope, events are shaping them and I believe that they have the Tamil interest at heart!!
