you mean because of the Chinese product ? i know the lacking of MP3 is a major blow , to overcome this they introduced a 8100 series but the main issue is to get familiar with TYPING , as well as the tracker ball is too sensitive . |

the blackberry is not for PHONE function , it got most the phone features , but these are specially PDAs ( Personal Digital Assistance ) , the main functionality is e-mail / and internet access as well as small scale 3rd party application .these units are very helpful for the business magnets ,medical and IT professionals , specially the administrators with critical data managements and network infrustructures , it will keep you on the edge .
for an example a UNIX admins could receive a phone call or e-mail while he is about few hundred miles away ,in another country or while driving ,the next action would be simply he will login/ssh/telnet to his / her network and look for issues and it would get resolved in few minits.the whole cycle should take less than few mins ( depending on the criticalness it may take longer to fix the issue ).
for an example if you buy a blackberry from the phone company ( ROGGERS in Canada or CINGULAR from USA ,etc,etc) you would get e-mail functionality , but that will be similar to hotmail , gmail or yahoo mail ,you have to visit a webserver to check mails using blackberry internet browser ,without your intention nothing will happen , no e-mail , but with blackberry enterprise server integration with data attachment service the unit will become come you personal computer , then you WILL get the benefit of blackberry PUSH technology , the blackberry will be online 24/7 using phone companies wireless GSM/GPRS or EDGE network -:)

Changing phones has become a fashion these days. It is a kind of status symbol, just like having different types of cars.....
you may be right in some cases , specially in blackberry this is very limited to new releases , some time its necessary to have NEW upgrade , for an example .
the blackberry 8700 series vs 7200 series ( 7280,7290 ) there is a major difference in technology i mean EDGE vs GPRS , the older models are limited to GSM/GPRS with 2-band or 3-band , but with new release you have more flexibility and new addups like new windows release ;)
Note:
if you are looking for MP3 , or camera the blackberry is not for you :(
but a blackberry without Enterprise server is also simply a PHONE :( |

these bloody cell phones are creating domestic violence for me..I am the worst ever for cell phone use, I hardly use and keep it for emergency purpose and have lost it couple of time too :-(. |

be happy , in fact AT&T is a very aggressive company from the business prospective , they have very good business relationship with world wide wireless networks , once you have the worldwide roaming enabled , simply you have to worry about ONLY the BILLS , rest will move smoothly whether you are in Atlantic ocean or in china :)
