No it is called TTV (Tamil Tunnel Vision) a progressive disorder of the higher faculties leading eventually to blindness. |

Whatever settlement is reached, it should be on the basis of a democratic process
Democracy as it existed in Sri Lanka failed Tamils. Unless Mr. Anandasangaree has developed a new model, based on his own life, his suggestions would be considered an indicator of ignorance by a person who has genuinely practiced democracy

Magha,
It is not only me who honour Ananda Sangaree but the entire world community
On what basis do you say this? Is it based on the labels he carries or your own work. If it is the former, that shows you depend on others' certificates to know your own family. If it is the latter, what is your common link with Anandasangaree?

We Hindus believe that one 'feels' with those who make up our foundation. We do not need sight nor intellect for this. Then we relate - and we need intellect for this. It's after these two that we need sight - to see outsiders. It is therefore understandable that Tamils are blind with their own.

In the beginning of our democracy,it was decent, just like in any true democratic nation, where minorities were given minister ship with out a portfolio, they were 5 or 6 un elected posts, but then then the rot set in the country;starting with 50% politics by GG and then Mr Chelvanayagam then Sinhala only act in reaction to the latter then it led to nepotism and large scale corruption in the nationalized sector, that led to the JVP insurrection in '71, that also followed by emergency situation of unfortunate '83 riots followed by more corruption and nepotism, leading once again to another JVP uprising resulting an another continued emergency that brought rich pickings to the corrupt people of both divide. The end result is that we the ordinary citizens have lost it's freedom and Democracy or perhaps Democracy and then freedom.Whom could you blame for this situation today? The situation today is result of the events of our recent history, starting from the times of GG,when there was no strife at all.One has to admit the fact,in late as 1960 when the Bandaranayake assacination court case was conducted by the chief prosecution barrister was none other than MRGG.Ponnambalam and his opposing defense council for Somarama thero was one Mr Chetty and if the country was racist, could they ever occupy a such a high profile position? Now you are in Aus and if you are a barrister would you be able to or given a chance to hold that esteem position in Australia in another 100 years? My dear American friend was deported by the Tamil Immigration officers, who made up 90 % of the assistant Commissioners in the Dpt in Colombo in 1964,in a cruel reaction for my friend putting up his 3rd textile factory in Jaffna. On his way from Jaffna our car was stopped at the Kelania bridge bundled him in to their car,was locked up in Slave Island detention centre,in spite of we approaching JR(minister of state) for a reprieve as JR or Dudley didn't want to overrule the decision of an immigration officer and under the law then, our lawyers were not given the reasons,as the law states,it on the discretion of the assistant commissioner of immigration. Then our democratic system was incorruptible and I blame the these Tamil leaders and the rest of the people, that followed to the present situation. What we now require is urgent drastic surgery.
Good night!

Kevin,
In the beginning of our democracy,it was decent, just like in any true democratic nation, where minorities were given minister ship with out a portfolio
The word GIVEN says it all. If it had been recognized that we had earned it it is not for someone to 'give'. It's ours through that earning. Others were keeping it away from us by force.
they were 5 or 6 un elected posts, but then then the rot set in the country;starting with 50% politics by GG and then Mr Chelvanayagam then Sinhala only act in reaction to the latter
I see great value in that 50:50 proposal. It is the balance between Truth as we feel it naturally (represented by votes) and Right as per wider society. The latter is based on merit and is necessary to participate in International Activities. The proposal was based largely due to the influence of the British. Sri Lanka is not as big as India to have a high status through its people. Hence the merit basis was necessary to the extent we wanted to go international. Now it has happened any way - largely through migration of Tamils who symbolize the essence of the 50:50 policy. If a minority is exceptionally hard working especially at the intellectual level, then the Truth is that the power of the country is not proportionate to the bodies but to a mix of bodies and merit. Bodies represent passive power - where people add their minds to the higher / greater workers. Tamils relied more on the active power whilst the Sinhalese relied more on the passive power - as is the case with White Aussies and Aborigines here in Australia. |

Kevin,
The end result is that we the ordinary citizens have lost it's freedom and Democracy or perhaps Democracy and then freedom.Whom could you blame for this situation today?
We the ordinary citizens would never lose if we vote on the basis of our feelings. Those of us who do not have vote or the power of majority vote have the duty to actively promote the merit basis. I strongly suggest that you start working towards merit based systems rather than resigning yourself to fate. Such is the way of the lazy.
When you become part of the problem and realise it, you have already started on the solution.
I already have that esteem position - as per the esteem of myself and my people. I am highly recognized for standing up for independence through merit base. Migratns seek my advice and representation in tribunals for this reason. What really matters is the feelings of those to whom we feel naturally connected. Others are temporary for material purposes. The current citizens of Sri Lanka - of all races are not able actively use the merit basis because all are preoccupied with majority rule - which works against intellectual actitivity.
No, I do not need to wait for 100 years. I know NOW that I am as highly valued in my community as GG was in his during his times. Tamils from all over the world contact me for advice on Racial Discrimination matters.
My dear American friend was deported by the Tamil Immigration officers, who made up 90 % of the assistant Commissioners in the Dpt in Colombo in 1964,in a cruel reaction for my friend putting up his 3rd textile factory in Jaffna.
Had you promoted the merit base the Tamil officer would have been fearful of using his own personal thinking.
I on the other hand believe that I will be rewarded by the system of Natural Justice for all my genuine work. Hence I do not wait and neither do I lament about the past. I just continue to work any way I can to realise my own people and happiness which often includes many others. Hence for me the remedy is already here. As I have said before - our work produces three levels of benefit - money, goodwill and ownership. ownership is the ultimate. The first two help us enjoy the journey and include others in the travel.
Good night!
Kevin
Are you running away without waiting for my response?
