Historic MIcrosoft Windows 2007 to be launched in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka will usher in Windows Vista, Microsoft 2007 Office System and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 at BMICH in Colombo on the 15th February 2007 .This would be seen as the Software Industry`s biggest launch in recent history.
The industry experts` would be seen ushering in Microsoft`s latest version of its flagship operating system, opening windows to hitherto untapped vistas of opportunity and productivity, ease of use, security, stability and connectedness.
This launch would virtually be meaningful to all 500 million personal computer users across the world. It would also be much meaningful to average Sri Lankan personal computer users who struggle with the English language barrier as Microsoft incorporates Sinhala into the computer system.

Partnering the launch with Microsoft on the 15th February is Hawlett-Packard and Dialog Telecom as platinum sponsors.
At a press conference held at Hotel Taj in Colombo last week to announce the launch, Sriyan De Silva Wijeratne, Country Manager of Microsoft, Sri Lanka said `This product launch is not a kind of new version to the existing system, but a it is so much a quantum leap ? the results of 5 to 10 years hard research.`
He said the new products focus on enriching consumer experiences and have many benefits built in and those in Sri Lanka can reap many benefits from the world of possibilities the Microsoft offer. The product will usher in instant enhancement in computing clarity, confidence and deliver a connected way of living. He said that Sri Lankans have an appetitive for new technologies and they felt that they would record very high adoption rates for these new products within a very short time.
Language is the vehicle that transports ones thoughts and imagination to another`s mind. The key advantage in `Windows Vista` is its compatibility with the Sinhala Language. Microsoft 2007 introduces precision speech recognition, Sinhala documentation and mail on to the desktop ensuring easy usage for most segments of the population, which will in turn benefit the entire nation.
Contemplating each product, Microsoft 2007 Office System, Windows Vista and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 are designed to work in unison to bring about unparalleled gains in productivity, efficiency and connectivity to its users which the company says will enhance how employees can work with one another, partners and customers while also enhancing how organizations capture and use information.
The 2007 Microsoft Office system includes programme, servers, services and solutions designed to work together in order to gain optimum return from the system. It will also be available in updated packaging options that allow users more flexibility in adopting the specific technologies and solutions that best suit their needs.
Hawlett-Packard, a strategic worldwide partner of Microsoft, expressed its pride at being associated with the much awaited launch of Microsoft Windows Vista in Sri Lanka. Krishan Fernando, HP, Sri Lanka Country Manager said that they have been partnering with Microsoft for the last 20 years and they were involved in developing Windows 95, 98, 2000, 2003 and their engineers have been with Microsoft for years doing research, development, testing and implementing .
Nushad Perera, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Dialog Telecom said the potential of the Vista Operating System `Windows Vista has the potential to provide Broadband and Mobile customers with a whole gamut of value additions.
The promise of Microsoft is that Exchange Server 2007 will deliver the protection technology a company demands, the anywhere access that end-uses want and the operation efficiency a business needs. The focus of Exchange Server 2007 has been to address the needs of employees who travel more, collaborate with virtual teams and work from remote locations and with mobile devices.

| Have seen the product early this week. It?s very impressive and user-friendly, but, unless you have a very recent pc, you better avoid doing the upgrading. Wait until you feel the need to renew your hardware. |
