Guys are here boasting about liberating east but continently ignoring A'Pura attack if you guys talk about east then flow up with Apura attack as well .

It was stating its case, with the southern voter arguing that the war against the Tigers was the reason for the rising cost of living-not corruption, and not the burden of maintaining a humongous Cabinet of ministers either. And as evidence, it was citing first Mavil Aru, then Thoppigala and Silavatura, and finally, what it called the ?liberation? of the Eastern Province.
The attack on the Yala sanctuary that preceded the attack on the SLAF base, was an indication that the LTTE was not as impotent in the East, as it was made out to be. But, if anyone needed any convincing about the terrorists? intentions or capabilities, the Anuradhapura attack would have laid any doubts to rest.

It is no secret that the war effort of the Rajapaksa regime, is its saving grace. The masses have been told to grin and bear the burdens of the skyrocketing cost of living, because a war is on. The war is, of course, also a good reason to put other issues-such as media freedom, corruption, and abuse of power-also on the backburner.

burst that bubble a bit. The government would now have to prove that the current setback was just a minor obstacle in the grander scheme of defeating the LTTE. There will always be ?knee jerk? bombings of ?identified targets?, but such announcements will convince few in the long run.

Total population in Sri Lanka is nearly 22 milions now. Of these 22 Milion there are 3 milion tamils. The ratio is approximately 7 to 1. Seven sinhalese to one tamil. How many of these 3 milion are LTTE terrorists? It is below 10,000. As Sarath Fonseka say the target is to kill 10 terrorists per day. In that case the terrorists sholud kill 70 sinhalese per day to keep up with the ratio.
The conclution is all terrorists will be wiped from Sri Lanka year 2008. Terrorists have no way to keep up with the Army.

LeN- 2007 Dec. 31, 9.40 AM) Colombo diplomatic sources say that with the Rajapakse regime's consideration 2008 as a year of war, world's leading intelligence services are interfering competitively in Sri Lanka's affairs. Indian RAW, Pakistan ISI, Russian KGB, US CIA and Israel Mosad are the leading intelligence services that are engaged in Sri Lankan affairs.

Our sources say that an owner of a leading newspaper group in Sri Lanka is coordinating Mosad intelligence tasks in Sri Lanka, mostly in the Eastern Province.

Year 2008 is going to be highly competitive year among leading intellegence services?

****HOW TO DESTROY YOUR OWN RACE IN 30 YEARS *****

A country with a weak economy and an enfeebled population cannot win what has become a war of attrition. This war is also sapping the vitality of our nation by creating a largely unproductive and corrupt economy and catering to the selfish ambitions of politicians ruling the roost and the greed of merchants of war. This may be the long-term LTTE strategy and the government may be thoughtlessly playing into its hands! The death of Prabhakaran, as hoped for by the government, will not end this war, as he has created a war machine and a mindset among those in the LTTE and those who support its credo will continue to pursue his goals even after him - probably much more efficiently and viciously...
....
I have been told by teachers in the small towns and villages outside the war zones, of a large number of parents abandoning their children in public places like temples and churches, as they cannot afford to feed, clothe and care for them. People are also selling their children for a pittance! Alcohol consumption ruining several families is on the increase, as large numbers of men seek solace in stupor. Malnutrition, suicide, prostitution and abortion are on the increase, because of poverty. The meager earnings remitted by the men and women who toil in the middle-east in lowly paid jobs, sustain a large number of families in Sri Lanka and represent a large chunk of her foreign exchange earnings. The money spent by these families, in turn sustain many other families. Unfortunately, the spiralling cost of living in Sri Lanka is eating into the purchasing power of these families. How long will the attempt to keep the dollar-rupee exchange rate at Rs. 110, with dollars borrowed at high interests rates from international banks work? With every dollar increase in costs of an imported product, the local cost will go up by a minimum of Rs. 110 plus the added cost of taxes. The further weakening of the rupee will add to this cost. The increased cost of transport will further add to the cost of the product. The needs of the traders, along the supply chain, to meet the higher cost of their living, will add another factor to the cost of the final product at the retail end. This is a vicious cycle, which cannot be broken, until the economy grows in the country in real terms ? not in terms of a devalued currency and an inflated economy - and wasteful expenditure on the war, unneeded airlines, unneeded airports, and other unjustified government expenditure - are curtailed. Considerations of race, ethnicity, language, religion, caste and creed will be luxuries we can ill afford, when the people and their children go hungry. These considerations should not have been permitted to become important in our national life in the first place. A hungry people, become an angry people and shed their skin of civility and morality very quickly. This truism should be taken heed of by the government. Propaganda and jingoism are not alternatives to food! In the attempt to spite the face, we may be well into the process of cutting off our noses.

Thambi,

With 30 long years of tactical withdrawals, reclaims, maneuvers and what-not, you must be very near in achieving Eelam.

So when would Velu declare Eelam?
