President angry over Rupavahini`s showing of Mervyn Silva episode
Friday, 28 December 2007 - 4:25 PM SL Time

[28-12-2007 3.45pm] President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is reportedly angered over the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation`s coverage on the violent behaviour of Minister Mervyn Silva every five minutes, has reprimanded top SLRC officials including CEO Karunarathne Paranawithana and Director-General Sisira Kothalawala. The President has demanded to know as to what they had been doing until the minister became a hostage in the SLRC chairman`s room and as to who authorized the telecast of the unfolding scenes.

It is reported that the President was dissatisfied with their answer that it was impossible for them to calm down the enraged workers.

The two media ministers Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena were also not spared from the president`s angry outbursts.

Finally, the President had ordered not to telecast footage relating to the incident in the SLRC primetime news at 8.00 pm.

Accordingly, the SLRC has downplayed the incident and reported it with no visuals.

However, all other electronic media institutions including Sirasa TV, Derana and Swarnawahini highlighted the incident as their main news item of the day.

Excellent,Motta Rala,
Instead of condemning and criticising the perpartrator to the crime, you are criticising the victims.
That is why, LTTE elected you as 'president' of modayas.

Thanks for your contribution!

Mr. President

What will you do if one of your resident neighbors breaks in to your house and starts attacking your eldest son or your wife ? your answer will justify the question you are asking the top ranking officials of SLRC... Mr. President do not forget we are all humans made of flesh and blood...I'm not in to politics but as a SL was admiring the good work you were doing but not at all happy the way you are handling this particular situation also... Mr. President look at long term and do the right thing now by sacking this scoundrel who is bringing shame on you and I'm sure you will gain more popularity and praises in the long run..

MR is angry over Victims for being victims.....what about the criminal Toku silva???!

Motta Rala has not said anything condemning Toku Mervin (not only in this incident....)...actually, he's one of MR's henchmen...doing dirty jobs for MR (killing, kidnapping and all other abductions and rawdism)

GerardNY.....welcome onboard........as sri lankans...we all are worried about our country (from our politicans's ill-behaviour and looting more than anything else)
