Sri Lanka Navy sinks 6 Tiger vessels in fierce sea battle

Dec 26, Colombo: In a fierce sea battle erupted this morning between the Sri Lankan Navy and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the sea south off Delft, Navy destroyed Six LTTE attack boats including two suicide craft, the Defense Ministry said.

Twelve naval fast attack craft, backed by Air Force gunship confronted a LTTE boat cluster consisting 16 boats, naval sources said. Citing unconfirmed sources the defense reports said at least 40 Tigers were killed during the hours long sea battle.

Naval sources suspect LTTE was smuggling warlike material towards the non-liberated Nachchikudha coast when detected by the naval patrol units.

A home-built naval craft was damaged when two suicide LTTE boats exploded in the fighting, defense sources said.The damaged boat is now been towed towards the Kankesanthurai harbour by Naval sea units.

Naval units are engaged in extensive search operations in the area, sources further said.

Ya.......6 tigers boats down..

but SLN lost a super vessel in that battle...we have to admit it too

finally, poor public are the loosers...the more both sides loose in war, public have to pay more to GoSL in south, to LTTE in north....
