Furious Mahinda wants to Remove CEO of Srilankan airlines for not letting him and a plane load of his teams.
Wednesday, 19 December 2007 - 4:53 PM SL Time

WE strickly say we can only offer one seat or a few in our plane for mahinda. not the whole plane.
we have customers to serve. this village fool mahinda take plane load of advisor and dancers( 20 dancers) and cleaners whereever he goes and we cant cancel our flight and accomodate all these bunches.

we simply cant do that. this could be the possible answer from srilankan airlines.
who pays the compansation for all those cancelled flight passengers?
we can ask few passengers we offer refund and extra flight tickets and that is only if they are happy to take. but most of the travellers are on holiday we cant refund the holiday money. so go and get you Mahin air and fly. this is how they have told mahinda.

Furious mahinda probably told the airlines you will see my true colour after i get there.
( just like he told Joseph pararajasingham and latter he murdered him. so it was not clear what he will do to srilankan airlines)

for start he is calling SriLankan Airlines CEO Peter Hill removed.

he had travelled to Japan with 20 of his dancers to welcome him. and no wonder those dancers must have travelled to UK to welcome him too. it was reported 297 members team travelled to japan. so its likely the same load would have gone to UK.

in the end mahinda had no choice he called his personal airline Mahin(da) airlines to Luton and packed the plane load of his advisors and dancers.
he was worried there maybe adverse publicity in srilankan newspaper so he probably asked a state run newspaper to report a airraid that injured praba so noone look at his airride. ( see details report of mine )

Fiasco over failure to fly President from London to Colombo in fully booked national carrier

An angry President Mahinda Rajapaksa wants Emirates appointed SriLankan Airlines CEO Peter Hill removed over the fiasco of not being allowed to fly back to Colombo from London via the national carrier.
Sources said that the reason for President`s wrath is that Hill had reportedly indicated that there were two SriLankan Airlines flights from London but at the last moment had said there weren`t any seats available for the Sri Lankan President to fly back home.

The President, who was on an official visit to Japan, flew to UK on a semi-private tour where he wanted to witness the passing out of his son Yoshitha from the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. President was invited by the College to grace the occasion as the chief guest.
Sources said that after the event, Rajapaksa was keen to fly back to Colombo on time for the crucial third reading of the Budget, which took place last Friday.

When the Presidential delegation realised that there were no seats for the country`s Chief Executive, a message was sent to fly over the Budget carrier Mihin Air at a hefty cost sans passengers. Mihin Air, in the process, made its first flight to Europe.

However, an airline industry sources said that the President`s request for 18 business class seats and 17 economy seats came late and at a time when flights were over booked. UK is Sri Lanka`s biggest tourist generating market. Sri Lankan Airlines is the most preferred carrier by expatriate Lankans.

The Presidential delegation had to choose between three options which were: a flight from Gatwick to Colombo via Male, occupying a lesser number of seats than the originally indicated amount or agreeing to a written directive to clear the required number of seats since it mounts to off loading pre-booked passengers.

However, there is some confusion whether the Presidential aides had properly communicated these options to President Rajapaksa or whether someone had wanted to tarnish the national carrier`s image. Independent analysts were divided over which course would have been in the best interest of the national carrier. They said that ahead of the management review this fiasco could have been avoided.

The 10 year management deal signed in 1988 between the government and Emirates regarding SriLankan Airlines is up for review subject to tough negotiations. Emirates also owns 43% stake in SriLankan Airlines. The next meeting which will probably be decisive is slated for January 8.

Sri Lanka moves to oust flagship carrier's UK boss
Wed Dec 19, 2007 3:08am EST
COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lanka is cancelling the work permit of SriLankan Airlines' British boss after the national carrier refused seats to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his entourage, the government's investment board said on Wednesday.

Rajapaksa went on a private visit to the United Kingdom this month to watch his son's graduation from a naval college but couldn't get a place on the flight home because of heavy holiday traffic.

The government says the airline 'misled' it and had promised seats to Rajapaksa and his 35-member entourage -- which airline sources deny.

You can't blane the airlines as they (MR & group) did not
get confirmation for airlanka rew-seat.Customers rights
come first and I don't think the President will have any
rights to abuse his power when he is wrong. If the delegate
had confirmation then he can sue airlanka.

Who has Srilanka interst at heart??

Here is the calculation for you guys to see who is saving srilankans money.

Peter Hill = we can offer limited number of seats only 10 seats.
say 10 that way we had to only refund £6000+ free ticket £4000

Srilankan airline loss £10,000 55% of shares owned by srilankan government
so the the government incured a loss of £5,500

But Mahinda wants to cancel the whole flight and take all rajapakshas home.
( wonder ifblack tigers are working in srilankan airlines...lol)
that would cost the airlines compansation of £250,000 refunds of tickets.
and other compansations £100,000 = £350,000.
in that case srilankan government will have to bear the loss of £192,500.

IF you are a CEO
its plain black and white. your company wants a loss of £350K or 10K?
obivious answer is 10K.
so he told mahinda the option.

then what happend mahinda get Mihin(da) airlines there .
empty planes. taking all rajapakshas and dancers.
like private empire. if it was Michael Jackson called his own plane to pick him up.
but in srilanka the people had to pay for this.
it must have cost over £250,000 for the flight that is $500,000 .
imagine President burden people with $500,000 for a personal trip to see his son graduation.

who is Right Peter hill Or Rajapaksha?
