JVP indicates willingness to change its stand on Budget
Wonder what happened for the JVP to change their stand between the 2nd reading and the 3rd reading of the one and the same budget? Was it the Japanese Yen or the Iranian Riyals?

If JVP wants to keep thier 38 seats in the parliment either they have to vote with the government or restrain from voting at the 3rd reading of the budget on Friday. It is very sure JVP won't have a mandate to govern the country since their popularity range 6-10% of total votes. They don't get much votes from Kandy, North Western, East or North.
It is unbelivable what Hakeem says 'SLMC electorate, especially in the East, where the Muslim people were losing their socio-economic rights, land and security'. This is radiculas. To regain control of East from LTTE how many sinhalese lost thier lives?. Kantale, Seruvila, Ampara, Iginiyagala are predominantly sinhalese areas and majority community is also sinhalese. We must first assure their safety rather than satisfying Hakeem who is not even from East. I don't think he will get an answer to his greivances either from Ranil or Praba.

Compared with other political parties in Sri Lanka, JVP has been on top with its policies and discipline. Thanks to Rohana Wijeweera who had gone through various hard ships to take his party to very strong position in the country.
There is no doubt whatsoever in the hearts of the people of Sri Lanka that JVP would take the correct decision at the right time considering the situation.
This would be a slap to both major parties SLFP and UNP. Mr.Champika, Where are your so called 'Desha Hitaisheen' gone?
At least stop stop your dirty comments if you can't analyze the political situation in Sri lanka. |

Sarath24,
Compared with other political parties in Sri Lanka, JVP has been on top with its policies and discipline. Thanks to Rohana Wijeweera who had gone through various hard ships to take his party to very strong position in the country.
The BIGGEST battle JVP facing today is corruption among its ranks.
After it became a democratic political party, most of village bafoons joined JVP as a short cut to money and power. Most of the candidates JVP put forward during the last local government elections are now in jail for various criminal charges and frauds.
Have no doubt, even with the world's best leader, the followers are succeptible to corruption.
JVP today has several fractions. Few of them are
a. Group wants to join government ranks, have protfolios and invole in governing Sri Lanka (Nandana Gunathilaka ideology)
b. Another group wanna have closer relations with UNP and topple Mahinda's government at any cost(Anura Kumara fraction)
c. Gang of old die hards who wanna bring JVP back to 'revolutionary' type of politics (front man Tilwin Silva)
d. Most of the members do not wanna topple the government and would love to finish their full 5 year term as MPs.
JVP is also have people as members. People are corruptible. They are greedy. They are sinners. Most importantly, THEY ARE SRI LANKANS :) :)

PERA,
It seems we are again on a collision course.
After it became a democratic political party, most of village bafoons joined JVP as a short cut to money and power.
This is a generalization by any standard. I agree that there might have been some individuals who joined JVP eying the things you mentioned. But I never think they amount to a considerable level for you to generalize it like that across the board. Besides, this is common sense. Who would join JVP to earn *POWER* and *MONEY* leaving more tempting options like UNP and SLFP aside.
Most of the candidates JVP put forward during the last local government elections are now in jail for various criminal charges and frauds.
Since I have already used the term *generalization* to your previous opinion, I don't know what I should use for the above. Anyway, I have no intention to make any further clarification since your opinion speaks for itself. So Pera, in your opinion, at least more than 50% of JVP candidates who contested at local government elections are now in jail!! Amazing!! What is more amazing is how Lasantha Wickramatunga missed all this data!
BTW, it is also not clear why you try in pain to prove that JVP has factions. JVP had factions very much since its inception and that is something common to almost all political parties. I cannot understand what you are trying to achieve by highlighting that.
-Muchalinda
PS: BTW, this should never mean that I am backing JVP's opposition to the budget. From a nationalist point of view, I sincerely believe that JVP should vote in favour of budget.
