Lankan News Replies

While cellular services to Jaffna remain suspended, Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Palaly high command has issued directives to all communication centers in Jaffna to record the identity and other personal details of telephone customers before allowing calls to other districts in Sri Lanka or to foreign countries, civil society sources in Jaffna said. Telephone users at all Communication Centers have to complete a form issued by SLA before they can call long distance, or take foreign calls.

SLA has warned the owners of communication centers that their telephone links will be deactivated if they fail to observe the new procedures.
