Policies are important. Policies are the base. For example, JRJ decided to open the economy and brought in competition. Modernised the legal system and that paved the way for FDI. If this was done back in 1950s as apposed to the nationalised economy of SWRD, we would be closer to Singapore. SWRD followed the failed socialist polices while Singapore followed the liberalised market economic policies. The difference is what we see today. |

Singapore succeeded because there was a Lee Kwan Yu. Can you imagine what would have happened if Sinapore had a Dudly/ SWRD/Srima/JRJ/CBK/Ranil/MR at the helm? |

The main Muslim party of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), took a decision last afternoon to resign from the government over a slew of issues by which, the party says, the government has let down the Muslim community. The party is supposed to make the crossover today.
This is bound to set the cat among the pigeons and panic buttons being pressed within the govt.
Obviuosly it is the JVP that will decide the fate of the Budget |

Singapore will still be what it is today if it had JRJ, LalithA or Ranil as their leader. You have to compare the vision of those leaders rather than how they lead. Vision will translate into policy and policy will lay the base. |

JRJ had his chance didn't he? Lalith didn't get a chance. Ranil cannot even control his party.
What it boils down to is the political leadership where we have had the misfortune of having nincompoophs after nincompoophs with no sign of any one even for the distant future. |

Ranil does have a vision, and that is the vision of a bat! If he had good political vision and knew his political marbles properly he would be in power today and would not have lost in sucession an unprecedented number of elections.

SLMC resigns due to the pressure brought upon by the grassroots in their constituencies. The president is only interested in holding on to power and not interested in bringing normalcy. He wants to isolate Tamil community only to attack Muslims later. Pillaiyan (TMVP)is encouraged to harass Muslims and he is given full support by the Government and Army.
Pillaiyan is threatening even the Muslims to urge their MPs to vote for the budget. He is not alone in this, as he does not know what Budget is all about.
Rauff Hakeem, the leader of the Sri Lanka's main Muslim party, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC), Wednesday resigned his minister post in SL President Mahinda Rajapaksa government and vowed to vote against Rajapaksa government's budget together with three other SLMC parliamentarians who sat in the opposition in the SL parliament.

Once this word was used by this minister to ridicule a remake made by JVP. It is normally uncivilized word in Sinhala use to show somebody's unhappiness.
