Justman,
I fully agree with you. Mahinda has said this long ago. But Traitor Ranil is the only stumbling block. Traitor Ranil who has brought a No Confidence Motion against Milinda will never agree to make him FM.
President Mahinda is more than ready to implement Justman's idea. But if it cannot be implemented for reasons beyond Mahinda's control, then Mahinda will not fall Prey to Trecherous Predetor's trying to seek narrow political advantage.
My Personal Opinion is that Traitor Ranil should leave the UNP leadership and Should be succeeded by Karu Jayasuriya. Then there deffinitely will be a National Govt. of the type you are suggesting.
And Karu will be Prime Minister with additional powers with a change in the JR/Ranil Constitution. How much longer are we going to let one individual (Traitor Ranil) Destroy the UNP and be the Sole Stumbling Block for Political Consensus on National Issues in Sri Lanka???

CBK and Traitor Ranil were given Enough opportunities for 12 long years to Co-orperate and solve the Problems of Sri Lanka!!
What did they do??? They faught and Faught based on their Narrow, Petty Political Agenda's. Traitor Ranil and Ravi K even grabbed CBK's handbag at a cabinet meeting!
Now the the People have rejected both CBK and Traitor Ranil and they should both get out of the way without dividing and messing-up Sri Lanka further! They are both Rejected.
SLFP Central Commitee has Removed CBK from the SLFP leadership, inkeeping with public opinion!!
It is Time the UNP followed suit by Removing Traitor Ranil from UNP leadership.......

Then there definitely will be a National Government
Yes! Badaagena kaapu rata, bedaagena kanna potak.
Till our politicians (PA, UNP, JVP,JHU etc etc) prove the elements of statesmanship, patriotism and the fact that they put country before self, for instance by denouncing the perks that they receive and set an example to the nation as to how to tone down the life styles while the country is going through hard times, a national government will NOT work.
Having a cabinet of 108 ministers with all the perks, MR going on foreign trips with entourages averaging 90 on each trip, staying in the lap of luxury in the most expensive hotels on each of those trips, ordering luxury vehicles for the use of politicians, increasing the fuel allowances of each MP/Minister while reducing the fuel quotas issued even to the police, the President, PM Ministers and MPs continuing to evade paying income tax are some of the things that suggest that all politicians are there simply to ENJOY life at the expense of the beleagured nation rather than to pull the nation out from missery.
In such a scenario having a national government will only increase the number of ministries, increase the expenditure to maintane them, add to the burdens of the country and bleed the country more and more.
Under the present circumstances a national government will not work for the better of the country.
The latest poster on the walls of Colombo with reference to the unbearably high cost of living, is suggesting that the people eat 'bujiri' without complaining, like how they did during WW2. So the people have to eat 'bujiry' while the politicians enjoy all the luxury. The poster is from the Movement against Terrorism which has state patronage.

Singapore dream can be realised by only UNP and UNP economic policies. Economic policies of SlfP have ruined our economy and put 50years behind Singapore. The damage is greater now because the good for nothing public sector including loss making goverment undertaking (like Mihin air ) is sucking the life blood of private sector productivity.
SLFP Central Commitee has Removed CBK from the SLFP leadership, inkeeping with public opinion!!
CBK was removed by scum bug MR through the back door just like the way he won the election through the back door by paying money to LTTe.
In fact, MR has back stabbed all those who supported him to win election. CBK, Anura B, Mangala, Sripathy, JVP. They all helped him a lot but southerner MR stabbed them on the back. This is the lowest quality one can have.
No good governance is possible when a family is controlling over 80% of the national budget and holding all important positions. This is the trouble with SLFP. They think that the party is family business. Look at UNP, no leader had ever family interest in the party. Leadership changed 5 times during the past 20 years. That keeps the party fresh and clean.

It is not so much the policies as the people who are in charge and the way the policies are implemented. Unfortunately for SL, the people in charge have been CORRUPT to the core and FAVOURITISM AND NEPOTISM have reigned supreme regardless of the Party in power. The sad part is that every new govt. seems to be outdoing its predecessor in CORRUPTION, FAVOURITISM AND NEPOTISM. Unless these evils are rooted out, SL is destined to sink deeper and deeper while our neighbours move forward. |
