Are there lessons to be learned from this protest?
Most importantly, which direction are Batticaloa Tamil people going?

Whichever direction TMVP goons point them in.
The TMVP goons are the law in this area, no one would go against them when called to a protest, as it is well known what would happen to them next.
So where the eastern people are going and what they feel is still hidden until they are actually free to speak. |

i remember you mentioned you are half-Batticaloa Tamil. I do have friends from Batti, and know people who used to live there (even in LTTE areas). The lessons to be learned is that there are grievances among Batticaloa people that need to be addressed within the Tamil community. There are many genuine anti-LTTE voices emerging from there. People cant just ignore them, but address these issues otherwise they will feel alienated.
TMVP are a bunch of thugs, I agree and may have forced many of these people along, but TMVP are exploiting Batticaloa people's grievances and turning them all against the other Tamils, TNA, LTTE. Until these issues are resolved, the next TMVP rally will consist of even bigger crowds.

Eastern Tamils are about 100,000 Trinco, 350,000 Batti and 100,000 Ampara. People in Trinco will never support TMVP. In Batti support is low but worrying thing is it is actually building up, especially anti-LTTE voices. Other Tamils can't ignore this.

Yes on my dad's side, friends are more his and some family too. But I know what you mean, before all this TMVP stuff some of our eastern friends were anti-LTTE but by no means did they support what is happening now in the east. |

look at these Batticaloa voices in facebook, genuine anti-LTTE. they are not getting paid moey for it.
I have LIVED IN LTTE AREAS and i know first hand experience of torture, killings done by LTTE. I dont need to hear and believe, i see and i experienced the LTTE torture and listen.
As for GOSL being violent, i totally agree with it. But what is the other way to combat LTTE? Even eastern people are becoming violent to fight LTTE! Eastern tamils leading the way!
you live a luxury life in Canada while supporting LTTE terror. I am sorry if I have hurt you but I have my own reasons to claim that you have blood on your hands!! I have gone through many of your post and your support to LTTE is pretty direct.
I have had many personal loses of friends dead due to LTTE and YOU HONESTLY DOESNT KNOW the pain it gives me too! Because some of my friends, truely believed in LTTE but they were killed in cold blood just because they critisized certain LTTE policies, especially on child soldiers.
Seeing the death of my friends and daily suffering of my people because of LTTE (thanks to your support to th em), I have made it a commitment to expose LTTE and their supporters like you.
So stop pretending, you dont understand or you are not sensitive to the suffering of tamil people. People who support LTTE, (the people with blood in their hands) has no right to talk about suffering of tamils in sri lanka!!
I hope you will realize one day that the LTTE may have started out caring for the Tamil people and fighting for their own separate homeland but later became sidelined when they saw the money and became corrupt. Now they are kidnapping our own people and torturing them till they pay up. And why can?t Tamils who don?t support the LTTE express themselves? Why are we forced into supporting an organization that we don?t agree with? If the LTTE and WTM stopped its intimidation tactics and threatening non LTTE supporters you will start to see a lot more Tamils speaking up against the ruthless LTTE
i have supported ltte in the past,
i beleived that ltte may bring solution,
i believe co-existance with northern tamils in one northeastern unit,
i believe that muslims were toppi piraties as ltte said,
i beleived sunniyathevan was the answer,
BUT NOW I KNOW I AM WRONG!
I WAS WRONG TO SUPPORT LTTE AND I WILL MAKE IT UP FOR IT!
I HAVE DONE A CRIME BY SUPPORTING LTTE TO MY TAMIL PEOPLE AND MY MISTAKE WILL BE CORRECTED!
Other Tamils either address these issues or else there will be bad consequences for all.
