@ Navin,
I agree that there are ppl coming from the LTTE controlled areas. But just because they come from these areas we can not arrest them, we need to have a valid reason to do so. This is not the way to handle it.
1. WE need IO to be on their tale day and night.
2. Our GOSL do it the easier way, but this is exactly what LTTE wants us to do.
3. And we need a water proof registration system with a solid ID (Identification) system. (read my previous post from page 8)

You will never be able to filter friend from enemy 100%, even the world mighty USA arrest wrong ppl and after years of interrogations they release them.

But we can reduce the amount of wrong ppl getting arrested!!!

We need to find a solution soon, otherwise there will be a another 83 again in Colombo.

People living in Vanni have no right to travel.
Brigadier Udaya Nanaykkara confirming the travel restrictions said the measure had been taken due to security reasons including the prevention of infiltration of LTTE cadres to the south. Daily around one thousand civilians pass between Wanni and Vavuniya through the Omanthai check point. Some 300,000 people are believed to be living in the LTTE-controlled Wanni.

Colombo has about 500,000 Tamils (54% of the population).

More should have been arrested.

800 or 1000 is nothing.

There are also Sinhala Kotis. How are you going to find them if you only arrest the Tamils?

They complain one way or the other.

There are no or few Sinhala in Kilinocchi shrubland.

This is a small price to pay for being able to live in Colombo. If your thugs want to exploit this freedom, then blame them for these troubles.

If they didn't do this do you think you wouldn't otherwise be able to enjoy the freedom to live in Colombo

Your blame is misdirected as usual

I agree. Most of the tamils who live in Colombo are innocent and trying to lead a life away from the LTTE influence and issues. It is unfortunate to see them getting into trouble.. But what can the security forces do other than conducting extensive search? Can we afford to let LTTE suicide cadres exploit the security of colombo. Tamils should be blaming LTTE for disrupting the lifestyle of colombo, not at the security forces who strive to safeguard civillians. If/when a bomb goes off in a crowded public place it doesn't discriminate against any race, it doesn't choose between tamils, sinhalese or muslims, it doesn't choose male, female, young old etc.. It will destroy everything in vicinity.

Security must be tightened at any cost at this time. Especially when LTTE has portrayed their new direction, targeting innocent civillians.

Over 800 Tamils arrested

If the Police say it is 800 then the actual numbers must be 1600 to 2100.
