Berty Bro, Ananda, Samadi, TCK, All4one & Everyone

Thanks and Welcome.

Duleep's hits stayed hit and he was always a hit wherever he played.

I remember very well the two brilliant hundreds he made against the Indians in each innings at the Chepauk Stadium, Madras.

Zaha,

I watched this entire match. It was a excellent all-round performace by our guys that took the English crowds by surprise. The main feature was our stylish batting.

After this game, Sri Lankan cricketers became very popular and the ECB considering our talents, proposed to give Sri Lanka more than one game during future tours. Aravinda De Silva was a schoolboy when he played this test and he scored 16 with some stylish boundaries. As for wettimuny's innings, it was one of the most stylish I have ever seen.

Duleep Mendis who was very unlucky to miss out on a second hundred in the same match

Duleep Mendis was paying with a strained shoulder in the second innings, if not that should would have gone for a six. Botham reached 300 wickets in this match.

One interesting feature of this match was the two substitues - arlon schoolboy Marlon Vohagt and Mumtaz Yusuf. Pity Marlon did not ontinue as a test player, having migrated to New Zealand. Mumtaz went on to coach SSC, Sri Lanka and the Malaysian teams.

Bongs,

Yes, Wettimuny's knock was recorded as one of the best played at Lords.

Marlon Von Haght had a good school record but did not get enough opportunties, i think he was from St. Anthony's Kandy.

Likewise Mumtaz Yusuf was a fine bowler, turning out for Moors SC.

Do you remember Shane Balthazaar another exciting bat from the hills?

Zaha,

Yes I do and you are right Vonhagt was an Anthonian.

As you know many will miss out as only 11 players could be accommodated. However, there were few fine schoolboy cricketers who deserved a regular place in the national team, among them Marlon Vonhagt, Sumitra Warnakulasuriya, Lucky Rogers Fernando, Indika De Saram, Naveed Navaz and Sanjeeva Warusamanna.

By thw way, Vass as usual has already taken the first wicket without any score on the board!

Bongs,

Out of that lot Sumithra and Indika were the very 'unfortunates'. Both of them were ideal test cricket material.

Currently, another player with immense talent is Anil Ridegammanagedera, who is overlooked.

In fact, he won the SL Cricketer of the Year Award this season.

Zaha,

Yes he was another Test material but I thought he is too senior to be inluded in the current squad.

Bongs,

He's around 31, if he can perform, it will be good but where is the opportunity?

But Dilshan has no place so how come Anil come in isn't it?
