I've heard through several 3rd party sources.. with connections.. that the LTTE has been furiously trying to get hold of 30mm cannons for their indigenous Muraj fleet.. thus far all their attempts have been unsuccessful!!..

I have also been able to glean some very interesting facts from an Engineer working for Colombo Dockyards!!..

This individual told me that further compounding the LTTE's attempt in procuring 30mm cannons is the fact that the existing Mounts on all Muraj craft are actually incapable of firing a 30mm cannon!!.. He told me the SLN had approached Colombo Dockyards a while ago to carry out some field-tests using captured Muraj craft..

In a nut shell the tests showed that the existing mount literally gets yanked out of its attachment to the deck whilst firing the weapon!!.. he further informed me that a 30mm cannon cannot be fired and operated manually by a human operative.. the recoil is terrifically powerful.. The cannon needs an automated fire-control system or a heavy mechanically operated Gun mount!!.. None of which the Sea Tigers have!!..

Hmmmm!!.. Interesting!!.. :O))))

Daily Mirror reports

An explosion was reported from Nugegoda. Eyewitnesses said there was a fire following the blast near the Bo-tree junction.
