Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Neomal Perera had brutally assaulted the husband of UNP Anuradhapura district MP Chandrani Bandara at 80 Club, Colombo 07 yesterday, an eye witness told Daily Mirror.

Humour in drama

While the whole country was watching with bated breath the evolving political drama this week, it was not without its own moments of hilarity. One cheeky reporter phoned an official in the personal staff of a top minister and asked whether it was true that his boss too was crossing over to the opposition and the official equal to the task without batting an eye lid replied ?yes?. The reporter thinking that he had hit the jackpot followed it up with the question: ?who else is crossing over with the Premier?? The knock out punch, which floored the scribe came without even a hint: ?Don?t tell anyone, the President is crossing over with him.?

Airport dy. chief resigns
Airports and Aviation Authority Deputy Chairman Shalitha Wijesundera has resigned from his post, ministerial sources said. When The Sunday Times contacted Mr. Wijesundera, he declined to comment on his resignation.

Some thing like that happens.

It looks like publicity for peelam articles and trying to scare peelam supporters with Letter codes.

President rules out dissolution
JVP demands rejected

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has ruled out the possibility of dissolving Parliament in the face of threats posed by the opposition to defeat him at tomorrow?s crucial budget voting.

The President, it is learnt, had told Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) organisers he summoned for a meeting on Friday that, in the event the government is defeated in the budget, he would not dissolve Parliament under any circumstances, and would call upon the majority party who commands support in Parliament, to form a government.
President Rajapaksa indicated that, in any case, he would still be the Commander in Chief and would retain the key ministries of Defence and Finance, in the event of a shakeup.

It is reported that he would also pick and choose his Cabinet from various other parties too.
Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga appointed three members of her party to key portfolios, during the latter part of the premiership of Ranil Wickremesinghe, in his short stint from 2002 to 2004.

In the meantime, government has also rejected the conditions put forward by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), to reconsider their support to the budget. The JVP put forward four conditions early last week, which were: To scrap the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA), dissolve the All Party Representatives Committee (APRC), safeguard the territorial integrity of the country and to block United Nations interference in the affairs of the country

RU=Russian Federation

Example members misleading others by pretending to be in Japan!!

Country name is not a street address. Its next to the planet name. Please walk back and see how bad it is. Its harmless. BUT if a member gives too much imporance to the country code and act very upset about it, it displays a weakness or a fear in that member, which in return others will try to use as a tool.

That is for VINI..
