Do we have to tolerate UNO`s pro-tiger policies? - Wimal Weerawansa asks in Parliament
Tuesday, 13 November 2007 - 11:20 AM SL Time

Should the policies of the UNO, which uses its privileges and act as the international front of the tiger terrorism, be further tolerated asked Mr. Wimal Weerawansa the leader of the JVP group of Parliamentarians in Parliament today.

He made a special statement before the debate of the second reading of the budget commenced in the Parliament today.

Full text of the statement:

I believe that the information regarding UNICEF revealed in a Sinhalese week-end news paper should receive attention of this august assembly.

UNICEF, like in other countries, is active in Sri Lanka alleging that it works for the benefit of children. However, this institution of the UNO, which states it acts on behalf of the children, on several occasions between 19th July, 2000 to 22nd July, 2006 has given Rs.11,327,784.00 to tiger terrorists. All this money has been given to tiger terrorists through Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), a front organization of the tiger organization. It is this TRO that was caught smuggling in war materials from abroad in the guise of `tsunami aid` after the tsunami destroyed many maritime areas in the country. Who doesn`t know that TRO is a cat`s paw of the tiger terrorists? Is it difficult to understand that UNICEF has given money to tiger terrorism through TRO?

UNICEF doesn`t give money to any institute a second time without getting an accepted report how the money given had been spent. TRO had once stated that it had spent Rs.400,000.00 to cut one coconut tree. This was discussed as a humorous anecdote within the UNICEF at that time. What did authorities in UNICEF do about it? A resident from Killinochchi, a member of the tiger organization, was brought down to Colombo to do the paper work regarding money given by UNICEF to TRO. Since then the jocular references to how monies received by TRO from UNICEF were spent stopped.

Moreover, the Land Cruiser vehicle bearing Reg. No. WPGN 1074 that belonged to UNICEF was made available for the use of the tiger organization. Still this vehicle is not with UNICEF. In addition UNICEF has become an institute that employs educated members of the tiger organization. We forward these facts after correct observations.

In another occasion I have revealed in this august assembly that a woman called Penny Brooth, who had exceeded her pensionable age, was employed in the sub office of the UNO at Killinochchi violating even administrative regulations of the UNO. I also pointed out that she openly favoured and acted for tiger organization. After we revealed about her this pro-tiger international agent was transferred to Sudan without revealing it to anybody. Jenifer Taylor, who is in UNICEF now, plays the role played by Penny Brooth then. She is the new `Penny Brooth` who pumps money to tiger terrorism through TRO without considering financial regulations of keeping accounts and maintaining documents to show how the funds were used.

Jenifer Taylor has already filled UNICEF office with a large number of members of tiger organization. Arul Raj Skandaraja, Dharshanie Kirubakaran, Dayaladevi Divaraka, Abarajitha N. Thyagaraja, Lavindra Kumar Kunjana Pathamy, Vinoraj Ratnaraj are some of these tiger members thus employed in UNICEF office. We call them tiger members not because they happen to be Sri Lankan Tamils. If we have that mentality then about 70% of those employed in UNICEF should be called members of tiger organization. We don`t come to such unjustifiable decisions. However, these names have been mentioned because we possess reliable information regarding them.

Lavindra Kumar Kunjana Pathamy, one of the individuals we mentioned above, was employed at UNICEF to check bills that were received from TRO occasionally. He, a resident of Killinochchi, was given the job to stop the `lies` in documents sent by TRO being discussed within the institute. Dayaladevi Divaraka too is a resident of Killinochchi. She, a person who cannot speak Sinhalese, has been appointed to be active in UNICEF work in the South. Why was she, who cannot speak Sinhalese properly, employed in work in the South? She has the privilege of going to any place with UNICEF identity card. Arul Raj Skandaraja, one of those individuals I have mentioned earlier was a strong student activist of the tiger organization when he was in Jaffna University. Dharshanie Kirubakaran too is a sympathizer of the tiger organization who had been employed to work in Killinochchi. Jenifer Taylor and those in UNICEF employ these individuals not because they are ignorant of their leanings.

It is an accepted norm that officials or employees of UNO should not be biased or partial towards any party. This has been confirmed by the Secretary General himself. However, Jenifer Taylor and company act violating even these policies. When there was a protest campaign against the killing of several members of Red Cross Jenifer Taylor and the company participated in the campaign wearing the UNICEF identity card. Among them were Patricia Pervez, Laraskot Rachel, Mackeny and Dharshanie Kirubakaran.

Usually vehicles belonging to UNICEF are not heavily checked. Very often parcels are sent in vehicles going to Killinochchi. Parcels are also sent from Killinochchi to Colombo. No one knows what is sent and brought between Colombo and Killinochchi. Doesn`t an organization that has given millions in money to tiger terrorist organization through TRO, give more vital things to tiger organization?

These are only a few facts that have been revealed. The real situation is more threatening. The government of Sri Lanka should be alert to this threat. Giving money to terrorism is a punishable offence in Sri Lanka. The act regarding this has been passed in this august assembly with the agreement of the UNO as well. However, if the UNO, ignoring the act it has endorsed, gives money, vehicles and many other things to tiger organization through TRO and if the act we have passed in the Parliament is not compellable, what is the use of such an act? Do we have to allow privileges the UNO enjoys to be used this way in a country threatened by separatist tiger terrorism? If they act here as an international front of terrorism, should we just look on? We have to find answers to these without delay. At this moment when there are reports that British Parliament is preparing to discuss `Sri Lankan situation again on the 13th, don`t we have to be more vigilant about the behavior of the UNO which has become a puppet of the western imperialism, have serious discussions regarding these happenings and take firm decisions? The people who love this country need answers to these questions.

Are you working for UNICEF?

I know its an inconvenience but a necessary inconvenience.

I don't have that privilege. They check me out head to toe.

Here, I get the finger and all kinds of harassments because
I look like a bearded Al Quida member. I just laugh it off.

If the NGOs are with the LTTE they approve them as a genuine saviours of Tamils and gvt as the perpetrators of crimes against the Tamils its simple.

This message is getting fast into the IC media!
