Thanks anud for the meaning, but you historical supposition are based on a outdated theory (AIT) !
It is an Adjective in the 6000 year old Sinhala Language descending from Indo - Aryan language of Sanskrit and proudly spoken by the Sinhala civilization for over 2600 years.
Just hilarious as you are personally revealing your own ignorance !
achilles,
Thanks but Tamil language do not have any Sinhala root !
I wonder why more than 4000 Sinhala words come DIRECTLY from Tamil ! There is no any 'superiority' complex behind that, but true fact !

Kuruwal (Sinhala) = Kuruwalam (Tamil)
Actually it should be Kuruwalam (Tamil) = Kuruwal (Sinhala).
That is the correct order of things :)
Btw.. So many people talked about LTTE not negotiating genuinely, and it's the LTTE that's the cause of all the problems.
They seem to conveniently forget that LTTE actually put for an independent proposal, but the GOSL rejected it and refused to negotiate on it's basis.
At the same the GOSL also failed to put forth any independent proposal to negotiate on. It's been years since they started working on the APRC proposals, actually the APRC already came out with a proposal, but the GOSL itself rejected it.
Furthermore the current constitution does not allow for any sort of federal solution. And even if an elected government were to propose a federal solution, and the Tamils were to accept it would meet the same fate of the P-Toms agreement. Some minor sinhala-nationalist party (or even any individual for that matter) would go to court and anull the agreement.
This is the true state of affairs in Sri Lanka. This has very little to do with the LTTE. The Sri lankan constitution is itself a stumbling block for any peaceful solution to the problem. And until there is a change in the constitution that allows for some form of acceptable and just devolution package to the Tamils. There is absolutely no point in going for talks.
