For the Karuna worshiping sinhala fans - Karuna has been arrested for Passport forgery in the UK, reliable news is that he could be put in a plane and sent straight back to SL soon.

Karuna arrested at London
(LeN, 2007 Nov 02, 7.45 PM) The leader of the Tamil People?s Liberation Tigers (TMVP) Vinayagamurthi Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman was taken into custody at London this morning (02) on the charge of migrating under a forged passport.
He possessed a firearm when he was taken into custody.
Karuna fled Sri Lanka clandestinely due to internal rifts and financial charges against him in his organization. His whereabouts were hitherto unknown.
Karuna Group is accused of forcible conscription of child soldiers.

I would say LTTE has about 90% approval of Tamil population in SL, from surveys, TNA votes and in a study by Dr Rupasinghe on what % of Tamils wanted ISGA. while many Tamils here might think it is high, it is not. Looking at SL history and GOSL persecution from 1956 to present, almost 100% should support LTTE. About 99.9% Palestinians, Kurds approve their cause. Inability of LTTE to convince the remaining 10% of Tamils is a failure of LTTE's leadership.
while they still have 90% support, they still have a good chance to take Tamils forward. But they need to improve for sure in human rights, and child recruitment must stop. if LTTE dont work for the benefit of Tamil people, Tamil people's patience will run out, then Tamils might as well all migrate to other countries as their is no point staying in SL and suffer generation after generation by GOSL, TMVP, EPDP and others. |
