First let me borrow a phrase that has been butchered during the last ten days or so:

No disrespect to Thamilchelvan may his soul rest in peace.
How important was TC to LTTE? He was a political head in a period that GOSL is not interested in a political solution. To his credit he was able to articulate VP vision to the world and still be recognized as a moderate voice. Many might not agree with LTTE but you have to respect someone who believes in something and sticks to it. He served LTTE as a foot soldier and then as the voice of the movement and served the purpose well and had the full confidence of the leader. He could have sold LTTE out for a fortune but did not and I think if he had a choice of how he will leave this world he would have chose this.
What does this do to the LTTE? It creates more opportunity. I could be wrong but to my understanding there was lot of misunderstanding from the intelligence wing and sea wing because TC was close to VP and TC could do no wrong. Now that barrier is taken out. This also gives VP the opportunity to bring in Charles Anthony.
So time would tell how LTTE sees this. |
